A North Greenpoint PSA: The Indian Groceries Are In!
Last night I took the Mister to see the marvel that is the Mini Mart Deli Grocery. True to the proprietor’s word, there was a slew of Indian delicacies awaiting our perusal.
Spices!
Indian food fixins’.
And for the less culinary inclined: Micro Curry!
All in all I was very impressed with all the foodstuffs they have managed to cram inside and outside this establishment. Not only are the usual suspects (such as tomatoes, which truth be told didn’t look so great.) in abundance but there was more exotic fare such as okra, ginger (some of the best I have seen hereabouts) and culantro (albeit labeled as “spinach”) for the picking. Make no mistake about it dear readers: I am very excited about this!

I love those pre-prepared Indian dishes for when I’m in a pinch and can’t make lunch. Good to know they have a decent selection, The Garden only has a few that I like. Now we just need a full-blown Indian restaurant! (One of these days we should take a “field trip” into Manhattan to go to one of the vegetarian prix fixe places, the food is truly awesome and a good sign that 90% of people eating in there are Indian, very authentic.)
