Where would Jesus go? It is a question I have been asking myself a lot lately given it is the holiday season. If the nativity scenes I have been seeing around the Garden Spot are any indication, the answer is NOT GREENPOINT.
Morgan Avenue:

Yes, it would appear our messiah has gone M.I.A.
Oak Street:
No sir, nary a Nazarene to be found. Joseph sure looks tuckered out. I bet he needed a good nap after a long day greasing palms* to get baby Jesus out of those under-performing Williamsburg schools.

The baby Jesus dolls will be put in the nativity scenes on Christmas day I’m guessing.
Exactly! Jesus hasn’t been born yet.
Sweet, that’s my neighbor! (Humboldt pic, it’s actually Diamond) He’s actually a good dude who takes his decorations very seriously. For Halloween he had a 6 foot tall inflatable tombstone that looked more like a giant throbbing penis.

jumpin’ jehovah! everything falls over on oak street, even jesus. or whoever those plastic people in the picture be. cuz oak street turns the corner, and the wind comes off the water and just … bounces. i have long dreamed of living in the home for disturbed ladies, or orphaned children, or single mothers, or whatever that place once was, a la miss havisham. i would be the fallen harlot of the lower east side, long relegated to the wilds of greenpoint, entertaining my gay boyfriends over long bottles of port and six packs of schaefer. ah, to dream.
