Spotted On McGuinness Boulevard: Fed Up

Can I honestly say I am surprised by this sullen missive? No, I am not. This Greenpointers versus film crew situation has been brewing for some time. Does anyone reading this post have the scoop as to whom is behind this campaign? If so, please share via comments or email at missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. Your identity will remain anonymous if you so desire. Thanks!

  2. I am not aware of the person in charge of the campaign, but as a long time GPoint resident, I would much rather have a film crew on the street than more cars, blasting loud music and dangerously speeding through the streets. I live right by the studio lots and don’t mind them at all.

  4. I don’t mind filming every once in a while. But it’s getting ridiculous. There are respectful crews and not so respectful crews. Unfortunately, we’ve been subjected to too many rude, disruptive crews.

  6. I’m on the fence about this one too. The filming is getting a little excessive, but the tenor of the flyer is pretty territorial – that these are “your” parking spots. That kind of attitude breeds a lot of entitlement – that somehow you own the curb space in front of your home for parking your private vehicle. The public streets belong to everyone, car or no car, but my street looks like a parking lot with about 30 spaces crammed onto on either side, some parked partially on the sidewalk, and cars constantly RACING down the middle. Sometimes the film days are the nicest because much of the usual circling and honking and jockeying for parking spaces goes away when the parking is gone. If you want a parking space to be YOURS, then it must be ON YOUR PROPERTY (i.e. a garage). If others want to use the street for events or films or whatever, hey – that’s life. It’s not YOUR street.
