Greenpoint Photo Du Jour: Closing

With its celebratory opening day flags still in place, J & S Indian Deli & Grocery has announced they will be closing their doors. Given the amount of time and effort the owner has invested in revamping this storefront, I feel more than a little sad. Perhaps he’ll find a good tenant? But given all the vacant storefronts here I am not terribly optimistic. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see…

    2. Your posting on the deli’s opening doesn’t seem to have a date. When was it?

    One thing it said in your earlier posting was that the deli wasn’t well stocked. What I sort of suspect happened, it is not all that unusual, is that the owner spent so much money on getting the space ready that he was left with too little money to acquire an adequate inventory.

    3. Well, he also didn’t offer anything that wasn’t available directly next door or directly across the street, but yeah…very sparse.
