From The New York Shitty Inbox: Only In Park Slope
I have been writing New York Shitty for almost three years now. In that time I have seen a sizable increase in emails “pitching” one product or another. I usually ignore them— but today I am going to make an exception. Read on and you’ll understand why. Tyler writes:
Local Park Slope dog owner here with some shit news. I wrote an iphone application for dog owners and dog walkers which is available at the iTunes store this week, it’s all about pee and poo. Trying to get the word out about the application, DogiDuty lets you or your dog walker send reports after each walk to let you know if Fido went pee or poo, was given food or water, and other notes. I designed this app to help me an my wife better manage our schedule between errands, late nights at the office, and after work activities. Our dog walkers use it and so do we.
Check it out at the app store or follow this link. I can send you guys a promo code to download a free copy of the app if you are interested.
I checked out their web site* and this appears be for real. Although I do not have a dog I am very tempted to take this person up on his offer as I can think of some very fun alternative uses for this product. My grandmother (whose fixation with “regularity” was the stuff of legend) would have loved this product; instead of simply asking me if I did a bowel movement I every time I exited the bathroom I could send her a full report replete with color commentary and perhaps a picture or two?!? God I love technology!
*tears*

*Do check this out. It has mock-ups of the user interface which features and poop and pee “checklist”. Priceless.

New York Shitty Day Starter: Fun At The Junk Shop
Filed under: Greenpoint Magic
The following was originally intended to be a “day-ender” on Thursday but due to circumstances beyond my control it has been relegated to “day starter” status Friday. Not that it diminishes the content in any way: it doesn’t.
It all started with this little plastic bag as displayed by my co-worker Steve.
It was an “Emergency Kit”. When this item was brought to the attention of the “Greenpoint Round Table” hilarity ensued.
As did a rather incisive view into the workings of the male mind.
CAVEAT:
- There is language in this clip you do NOT want your Human Resources Personnel/humorless cubicle monkeys to hear.
- All the featured players, e.g.; George Diaz, Kerry Bomb and I are comedians to one degree or another. Take it in jest. No offense is intended nor should be taken. We make fun of everyone, each other and ourselves, as you will see.
On with the show!
I worked ten years in corporate America before deciding it was not for me. There was something about that environment that never sat well with me. Perhaps it was the structure, hierarchy and artificial sense of geniality? Or was it having more stringent expectations placed upon me, a woman, regarding my personal conduct and appearance versus that of my male colleagues? Probably all of the above.
The previous having been written I am grateful to have been involved in the previous and admittedly vulgar dialog. I cherish above all things honesty. George Diaz was honest— if not politically correct— about his feelings regarding homosexuals and the transgendered. He was also being a comedian. It’s been my personal experience that people such as George are not the ones who propagate hate. It’s the ones who refuse to talk.
OR LISTEN.

P.S.: Those of you who are interested in doing a little “exploration” in the name of freedom will be pleased to know The Thing still has a fine selection of accessories for infants of all ages.
Yes, that’s “My Little Pony”.

There is a pot hole at the intersection of Engert Avenue and Russell Street…
…and it’s a rather sizable one at that.
Then again, perhaps this isn’t a pot hole? Maybe it is a cryptically marked portal to let the Morlocks out? Who knows? In any event it is probably best avoided. Consider yourselves warned fellow Greenpointers.

This wonderful image (which hails from our very own Newtown Creek Nature Walk!) is better appreciated in a larger format than the constraints of my humble web site will allow. It comes courtesy of Aonghais McInnes who, I feel compelled to mention, is an absolutely amazing photographer. Do give his Flickr page a look-see. It is well worth the time!

North Brooklyn Photo Du Jour: Southside Supper
Filed under: Williamsburg
When I encountered this spot of al fresco dining yesterday evening I knew it was too exquisite to pass up documenting it for all posterity here on New York Shitty. As you can see all the necessities have been provided: a bowl, spoon, eggs, a 24 ounce can of PBR (smashed— not unlike the person probably consumed it) and a “mystery bag” which is undoubtedly filled with culinary delights of a very exotic nature.
Interested gourmands take note: this table for one is located at South 4th Street and the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Best to place your reservation far in advance. I have little doubt this newest entrant to the north Brooklyn restaurant scene will be harder to get into than Nobu soon enough. Perhaps it’ll even get a Michelin mention? In any case I give this phat spread four stars.

TODAY: NAG Town Hall Meeting
This item was brought to my attention by my buddy over at Brooklyn11211. Among the items to be discussed at this meeting will be their North Brooklyn Story Project which, as it would happen, is still taking volunteers. Why not take some time out of your evening tonight and learn more about what NAG is cooking up for our community?

I can only hope the “Seedballs” project will be brought to the table. I realize this is sophomoric but I cannot read, much less write, this word without giggling like a school girl. Good times.
