Les Sans Culottes: Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn

Chris Arnade (who took the above photograph) writes:

Great band performing last night at the Sugar Hill Disco.

It was a very odd night. Sugar Hill Disco has been around for forty years, serving the local community. The owner, Eddie, noticing the change in the neighborhood and being “a great business man” has decided to start catering to the younger, whiter crowds.

It was a fun, at times odd, clash of the old with the new.

I got a big hug and invite from Eddie for Thursday Karaoke with the old time crowd. I can’t wait for that.

Thought Of The Day

My initial reaction when I saw this was:

Some people really should have their ad copy checked before bringing in the sign maker.

Then I thought about it some more and concluded that in this case (which I presume to be accidental) the outcome is far superior to whatever “vision” the owner of this establishment might have had. What a difference one single letter makes!
