Yesterday (as I was enjoying what little sunshine were are likely to see until Thursday) I spied a gentleman photographing the front of Kill Devil Hill. After musing about how original I find this establishment’s window displays I asked him if he was shutterbugging this shop for business or pleasure. He told me it was indeed a paid gig and that our very own procurer of stuffed musk rats is going to be in Lucky Magazine. Way to go, guys!

  2. I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer, but I’ve seen rats scurrying around in the window of KDH. Big ones.

  4. Dear Debbie Downer…
I assure you we are battling this issue as diligently as possible. I would also like to state that the current infestation of rats is a neighborhood issue not solely you friendly neighborhood antique and vintage store’s.
Have you taken the subway? You do know that NYC has rats, cockroaches, waterbugs, raccoons, stray dogs, stray cats… We are all trying to make best what we can and coexist with nature while maintaing a clean healthy living environment.

  6. The problem with rats (especially in north Brooklyn) has a LOT to do with the vast quantity of vacant lots here. When a house/building is torn down they have to find a home (READ: food) somewhere so they go where the people are. In this case, Franklin Street.

  8. Defensive Derrick,

I wasn’t aware of any other vermin infestations in Brooklyn. When and if I do receive confirmation of such activity, I will also post about them in comment threads on the internet. That way, everyone will receive equal discrimination, finger-pointing, and gossip-mongering.

Let it be known that I’m not offended by the fact that your store has been visited by these ferocious creatures. If you were serving food, that’s be another story – luckily, inanimate objects from the past are largely unaffected by these beasts.

Just refrain from serving antique food, and you’ll be fine.
