  8. I’m not too sure. What I was able to confirm today (after getting a heads up— and having the odd chance of bumping into THE feral cat queen of Greenpoint) is the keeper found one cat dead. He also noted the other cats were pretty skittish and were not touching their food for two days. When I swung by today they seemed to be more or less normal. Mind you, I only saw 6-7 cats. Apparently there are supposed to be more.

  10. So how do we know it was poisoned?

  12. Well, no autopsy was performed (Sandy buried him). However, it should be noted the other cats had not touched the food left for them for a couple of days. Which, anyone who knows cats, understands all too well this is HIGHLY unusual. Now factor in one cat was found dead. While other scenarios are plausible, when one takes this and other factors into account (READ: incidences at other feral colonies in the area— including/especially one just down the block. The shelter has been urinated on, had its entrance blocked by a very deliberated placed bag, the overall area strewn with bags of dog crap, etc.) it certainly suggests like poisoning. Regardless, people should DEFINITELY keep their eyes peeled and report anything suspicious.

  14. The deceased cat from Monday night was the long-haired black cat. He had been quite ill in the spring, but then he made an amazing recovery. He was looking all well and filled out. He had a name, Whistler.

We’ll miss you, Whistler. So sorry.
