attached is a pic i snapped of a banner over a soon to be laundromat. over 80 new manchines!  pretty funny!  it’s over at the corner of kingsland and nassau (244 Nassau Avenue to be precise —Ed. Note).  all joking aside i’m excited for a new laundromat in our neck of the woods, all the ones close by are super shitty.  also, do you have any word on when wardak is supposed to open?  i either trek to key food, or i deal with met food since it’s close but man, it is so bad.

Wardak looked pretty close to completion back in November but with this economy who knows? If anyone out there knows if/when this grocery store is set to open by all means please share.

And oh yeah, the Met Food on Nassau Avenue is disgusting. However, it makes a rather nice appearance in the movie Street Trash. Watch this trailer and see for yourself!

UPDATE, 4:15 p.m.: I swung by Wardak on my way to Boneshakers (to purchase some cupcake and sauerkraut love). They were busy at work!

I’ll expound upon on my Boneshakers experience in a bit. Stay tuned!

i’ll try to get that movie, i love that met makes a cameo, ha! a gp lifer i chatted with not too long ago said that met didn’t have running water until the 90’s. i’m not sure how true it is, but i wouldn’t put it past them

  4. FYI. The New Susan Laundry on Nassau is owned by the same people that own the Susan Laundry on Driggs (a little past Humboldt a blockish from mcgorlick). I started using them when I lived on Humboldt 3 years ago for drop service and I am still using them (even though now I live in the housing edge of industrial east Greenpoint). They are great and I am so glad that they are going to open a new store closer to home (so my BF dosen’t have to lug the laundry 7 blocks anymore). For example: They once found a metro card in my pocket and pinned it to my laundry in case it had money on it… and speaking of money… they once pinned 2 dollars to my pick-up laundry as well that had been lost in a pocket. They are honest, and consistent. They also own an alterations place on Nassau near the Busy Bee, though I have yet to go.
