271 Nassau Avenue

It would appear that the chaps at 271 Nassau Avenue were busy quite busy last night. Per an email I received from Rebecca11222:

Since 9:30 p.m. a cement mixer & a pump truck have been operating 3 houses away from me. Condo going up at 271 Nassau Ave (at Sutton St). Lights in my window & noise of a FUCKING CEMENT TRUCK. It’s now almost 11pm. I called 311 & reported the perps to both DOB & DEP. No variance posted, of course. We all know what good will come of my report. Motherfuckers.

This is all.

This is just plain ridiculous. Is it just me or does the illegal after-hours construction problem here seem to be getting worse?

Thoughts anyone?

Miss Heather

  2. Stuff like this is definitely getting worse. Tax abatement law is changing in Jan. 2008 so expect even more of this crap as there is a mad dash to get foundations done before then.

  4. Excellent observation. I cannot help but wonder if the recent developments in the housing market/economy are also a factor. FOR EXAMPLE: since those numbers came out Magic Johnson’s crew at 110 Green have gone into overdrive.

  6. Definite increase in noise last night in our end of GP too, and not the drunken hipster type. I had to close all the windows to get any sleep. Could have been drifting up from WB but who knows these days.

  8. why not call 911, why is this any different from rowdy neighbors having a late night party, leaving you unable to sleep. we can just take this to another venue.. obviously the calls to 311 are not taken seriously.

  10. I don’t know what to say. It’s pretty damned clear that the DOB is on the take (even the city has conceded this), so even if the complaint finds its way to them, who knows if anything will really happen? I still advise people to call 311, record the complaint number(s) and hand it (them) over to Community Board 1.
