New York Shitty Slide Show Du Jour: Sunset Park Selections

As I have previous stated, yesterday I spent late afternoon and evening with the inimitable Carnade knocking around Sunset Park. In addition to making the acquaintance of Thatcher the Bodega Cat and stumbling upon a particularly nifty piece by Dan Witz we saw (and photographed) a lot of neat stuff. Follows are some highlights from yours truly. Enjoy!

  2. Very nice essay on Sunset Park, particularly the shots of the park itself. Your photos made me think of my dear old Dad, as old school a Brooklyn guy if there ever were, who no doubt roamed every inch of that particular space in the 30s and 40s. He passed away earlier this year and I’m wishing there’s Internet access wherever he landed. Many thanks for some great photography.

p.S.–I’m guessing the industrial scenes are from Bush Terminal? That’s the spot from where Elvis set sail for Europe when he was drafted. In ’58 Sunset Park/Bay Ridge was momentarily the scene of teeny-bopper frenzy as female fans bid The King farewell.

  4. this definitely makes me want to re-visit Sunset Park. my last visit was months ago and in a January downpour. not fun but we did find the best hot Chinese soup ever that day.

Tell me what you're thinking...
