  2. Is this the new signage for pan-handling? I’ve seen it several times now. Every time with men holding the sign. It’s obnoxious, at best.

  4. Bedford Avenue is becoming the new Tompkins Square Park/St. Mark’s Place when it comes to panhandling. I harbor no ill will towards people like this chap— they go where the money is.

Hell, I cannot afford much of what is shilled on Bedford Avenue nowadays. $200+ for a dress?!? $100 for a pair of tights?!?

In the meantime you have long-term residents, many of whom are families or senior citizens on fixed incomes, patronizing the Greenpoint Reformed Church’s Food Pantry/Soup Kitchen because they can no longer afford to pay rent and eat. And a growing homeless population, many of whom are mentally ill and/or have substance abuse problems, living on our streets. They deserve better. We deserve better.

    THAT’S what I call obnoxious!

  6. Hi Miss Heather. I couldn’t resist a side-by-side rhyme for this guy at NYCRhymology… Hope that’s kosher!

  8. Here, here.

What kind of tights are $100? They’d better wash the windows and hold in my belly for $100.
