Urban Fur: Real Men Love Cats

When I saw this, one of the Garden Spot’s hardest working (and adorable) shop cats on Manhattan Avenue taking a nap I could not resist giving her back some scratching. When the above gentleman saw me doing so he smiled— and followed suit!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: (Speechless)
I am certain many of you have already seen this— but here it is anyway: a plastic play shed for rent in Greenpoint for $500 a month. Don’t believe me? Go to Gawker and read the whole sad story (replete with Craiglist advertisement) for yourself. Special thanks go to Stephen for bringing this item to my attention.

REMINDER: 400 McGuinness Boulevard
Although I have posted this before I am going to do so again: Monday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. a hearing will be conducted at our very own Polish National Home regarding the proposed 200 bed homeless male intake center proposed for 400 McGuinness Boulevard (as seen above). Regardless of what your position on this decidedly controversial project may be, dear readers, I admonish each and every one of you to attend this meeting.

LAST GASP: The Shit Never Sleeps?
As if my props to this, the Garden Spot’s most prominent landmark, via Time Out New York was not enough now I have learned our very own Shit Tits have made their way onto the silver screen. In an Oliver Stone film, no less! Jen (one of the fabulously cool co-pastors of the Greenpoint Reformed Church) writes:
Hi Heather,
You might already know about this, but today Ann and I went and saw the new Wall Street movie and the shit tits play a major role in the film. Of course they aren’t playing the role of a poop processing center. Instead they have been casted as a green energy research facility. Creative casting.
Methinks I might just have to see this (or would that be “them?”) on the big screen!

P.S.: On a related note, the Greenpoint Reformed Church’s food pantry and soup kitchen needs your help now more than ever. You can make a donation by clicking here and learn how you can volunteer by clicking here.
