Williamsburg Photo Du Jour: LOST

Although I suspect this it yet another manifestation of the viral advertising that is plaguing north Brooklyn of late here it is. My advice: purchase some Rogaine already!

The above photograph does not adequately showcase the feast for the senses that is this three-wheeled bit of holiday awesomeness I encountered this afternoon. Thankfully my camera can film video. Enjoy!

was covered on Fox News…just now made the front page of Yahoo! News no less.

as far as i know you were the first to cover this, correct?  nice to see there are some fans of your blog @ Fox News, and that you’re doing their work for them.

Indeed. I take it was a slow news day, Rupert?

UPDATE, December 21, 2010 7:57 p.m.: it would appear Fox News’s video is quite popular.

224,629 319,610 539,111 page views and counting. Impressive. Where’s my cut of the revenue you undoubtedly gained as a result of this, my work, Fox News? Yahoo? Anyone?

P.S.: I can only hope Suzi Halpin is trotted out (once again) to explain this gaffe. E.g.;

The New York Post credits blogs, bloggers, and other media all the time, as our readers know.

New York Shitty Pay Phone Du Jour: Something Missing?

December 21, 2010 ·
Filed under: 11211, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn

Anyone in advertising will tell you that the placement of your message is integral to reaching your “target audience”. If this is indeed the case the one man (?) army who has seen fit to saturate Bedford Avenue with the above anti-circumcision polemics got it right with this pay phone (which is located at the corner of North 7 Street). Judging by the aroma which emanates from this communication device it is clearly the ad hoc urinal of choice hereabouts.

P.S.: Nary a parking meter has missed this person’s attention.

From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part II: Diego Needs A Home!

Rebecca (who sent the above photographs) writes:

Diego was recently deposited at my house by his owner, who has been evicted from his home and is essentially homeless for an indeterminate period of time.  As I’ve known Diego since he was a puppy, I would really like to find him a home before I just leave him at the ACC or
some avenue such as that.  Diego is 1.5 years old, 110lbs, fixed, housetrained, crate trained, and adorable.  He has an AMAZING temperament, even for a puppy.  He was trained by a horse trainer, so walks incredibly well on a leash.  It makes a big difference when 110lb dog knows not to pull!  Attached is a YouTube video of him playing tug-o-war with my 9-year old pit/boxer mix, and some photos. He’s great with other dogs, and lets her be dominant and put him in his place.  Any help that you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated.  Diego deserves a good home, and not a short life. THANKS!!!

Thanks again for your help!!!

Anyone interested in providing Diego the loving home he deserves should contact Rebecca via email at: rbeshenk(at) gmail (dot) com

Thanks!

From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part I: A Question About Internet Service Providers

December 21, 2010 ·

Alicia writes:

Hi there,

I recently moved to Greenpoint and as the blog-guide to my new hood I thought you might have a tip on internet service providers in the area.  It’s a boring inquiry, but advice would be extremely helpful.  My realtor said my options are either Time Warner for cable internet or Verizon for dsl internet.  How’s your service? (Speedy?  Not so speedy?)  And what is the dollar per month of surfing the net status?

I have tendered my opinion about Verizon to Alicia (oh, did I ever). However, I would like to hear my fellow Greenpointers’s take on Internet service providers so she can have a more fair and balanced picture of what is available here. Please share your thoughts/experiences via comments or email at: missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. Thanks!
