Greenpoint Fashion Watch: Bex Rocks!
I’ve seen this woman around the neighborhood for some time and have long been intrigued by her sense of style. Today, dear readers, I finally had the time and wherewithal to ask if I could take her picture. She kindly agreed and as we were talking it ended up that we knew each other— in cyberspace that is! “Bex” is one of my flickr contacts! Some of you might be wondering what the deal is with the hoops. She is a hula instructor and had just completed giving a class.
Which brings me to this item (which I have blown up for better viewing). The silver and black number with appendages is called a “fire hoop”. A fire hoop is pretty much what it entails: you set these attachments on fire and shake your groove thing. The more adventurous among you might be interested to know this one is for sale. Bex’s asking price is a $100. Any and all interested parties should contact Bex via her Flickr mail. Good luck!

Greenpoint Photos Du Jour: End Of Manhattan Avenue
Whatever Todd tipped me off to earlier today, well, suffice it to say it is getting a lot more interesting. I wonder what (or who) the tiger suit is for?

Spotted On Bedford Avenue: Two Brits
I wholeheartedly concur. I loves me some Brit Brit and her size (as if the image on the right is anything to sniff at) does not have a damned thing to do with it. So there!

Have The Shit Tit Experience!
Yes folks, the juggernaut that is our local waste water treatment plant keeps on coming with this item— which was brought to my attention by my friend Aaron Short. Open House New York will once again be allowing access to our beloved landmark Saturday, October 9th, and Sunday, October, 10th! You can get a full schedule of times and make a reservation (as I have) by clicking here. Note: strollers are not allowed and “sturdy closed-toe shoes” are required. Heh…

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Stolen Bike
Filed under: 11222, Criminal Activity, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic
This item comes from a lady named Molly. She writes:
hey miss heather,
love your blog and hope that you could help me add some eyes to the search for my stolen bike.sometime between 10 p.m. last night and 8 a.m. this morning, my bike was stolen. it was locked on the gate in front of my apartment on monitor between nassau and driggs. cable lock was cut clean through.
now here’s the thing. this bike is small. like really small. anyone that is over 5’2″ won’t be able to ride it comfortably. it’s also orange. really orange. it has orange handle bar tape and an old vintage schwinn speedometer on the handle bars. it’s also very heavy. i have attached a photo of the bike… if you see someone… with a small orange bike, please contact me via email.
hope some nice greenpointers can help me out! i love this bike!
If anyone has seen this bike or knows of its whereabouts please contact Molly via email at mollsrawks (at) gmail (dot) com
Thanks!
Miss Heather
