New York Shitty Day Starter: Freddy

Freddy

Charles le Brigand (who took the above photograph) writes:

Freddy sells pretty much everything – from women shoes, old vinyles and best-sellers to children toys and furnitures. He occupies a small piece of land on a corner of Nostrand Ave. in Bed Stuy, where he set up a “pop-up store” three years ago. As a good business man, when I asked him if I could take his portrait, he replied “I ain’t doing nothing for free”.
– “let’s do something” I said – “I will pay you if you are not satisfied with the final product”.
– “right, that’s some real good customer service here, we have a deal”.

New York Shitty Pay Phone du Jour: Special “Old School” Edition

Those of you who lament that the East Village has lost its “flavor” will undoubtedly find the above-depicted pay phone (which I have named “The East Village Pay Phone of Death” and can be found on Third Avenue*) of especial interest. Follows are some details for your viewing pleasure (or horror— take your pick).

It would appear someone had an accident.

Damn.

*Which is located in front of a brand-spanking new condominium building whose apartments start at $3.6 million a pop! Old school flavor at “1%” prices!

Urban Fur: Iris

I happened upon this fetching lass (who clearly has a taste for the finer things in life) while passing Bagatelle yesterday afternoon. Intrigued, I went inside so as to inquire of her name. The kindly storekeeper explained that Iris, despite her kittens being adopted, is still awaiting a loving home.

The details I received about Iris are scant. She is two years old and I can personally attest she is petite and quite sweet— if a mite bit shy. Anyone interested in giving this lady a forever home (or simply a head scratch) can/should swing by 714 Manhattan Avenue. You will not be disappointed!
