New York Shitty Day Ender: Live From The Phil Collins Day Parade!

All in all, it was a pretty impressive turn-out for this, the first ever (public, anyway) Phil Collins Day Parade. Moves Gallery even had a mask-making station on hand for merry-makers. And merry-makers, a marching band and giant head of Mr. Collins (as promised) there were! Without further ado, behold the Greenpoint glory yourself. Enjoy!

Here’s how the whole affair wound down in front of Shayz Lounge courtesy of diana gee.

I suspect I speak for many when I write that I sincerely hope we will see another such event next year. Nice job, folks!

  4. Nah, I just stayed on Huron. I have had a very busy day and was not in the mood to linger out in the cold any longer than I absolutely HAD to!

  8. Can someone please explain to me what in the hell a Phil Collins Day Parade is? Is there actually a Phil Collins day in some country? When is Peter Gabriel day?

  10. @eagle-teater: I had pondered the Gabriel angle myself. That said, methinks we need to endeavor to have a parade of a more local caliber. A Karl Fischer Day Parade? UNofficial Community Board 1 Day Parade? A Newtown Creek Waste Water Treatment Facility/Shit Tits Day Parade— with a Shit Tit Queen and King Sludge Tank?!? Thoughts???

  12. Well, Mae West was born in Greenpoint. So how about a Mae West Shit Tits Appreciation Day Parade?

  14. I am afraid I am a Mae West as Greenpointer apostate: I think the evidence (which is scant) is more compelling that she lived in Bushwick. HOWEVER, Peter Kriss came from Greenpoint and I have it on good intelligence that the dude who played Wormser in “Revenge of the Nerds” lives here. Perhaps the latter could be “King Sludge Tank”?

  16. […] At around 7:30 last night, as I was trying to finish up some new designs for a client, I noticed the rumblings of an approaching commotion from the street below. As it approached, I could discern clearly the melody of the 1981 hit “In the Air Tonight” played with tasteful embellishment by a talented trumpeter. Running downstairs and out onto the sidewalk, coat-less and with untied shoelaces, I was greeted, of course, by the first-ever Phil Collins Day Parade as it wound its way down my street. Which is to say, some days, I don’t hate it here: […]

  18. That’s funny. This has made me realize that it is time to move, not wishing for another one. Sigh.
