Greenpoint Photo Du Jour: Thumbs Up

It’s not often one sees a PEP officer, much less a SUV full of them, in our fair burgh. Thus I had to document this spotting for posterity. As you can see they were more than happy to oblige this photo op. On a related (and decidedly “down” note), apparently an armed robbery recently came to pass at McCarren Park. You can get the run-down by clicking here.

  2. The city is slashing the budget every year under Bloomberg for NYC Parks Pep officers. The private organization that manages North Brooklyn Parks, OSA, won’t allocate budget for these officers either. Meanwhile another private company,The East River Ferry, has a Pep officer working Schaefer Landing? Not a real hotbed of crime by any stretch of the imagination. Look at the photo in Mousy’s photo stream. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mouseybrowns/8102630876/in/photostream

  4. Whoa. So let me get this straight: we have a PEP officer allocated to Shaeffer Landing while we not only had a homeless man beaten within an inch of his life, but a woman robbed at McCarren (presumably at gun point)? Um, priorities folks. BTW, I have received word that Pawel (the fellow who was assaulted) is going to pull through. I for one was very, VERY relieved to hear this!
