New York Shitty Day Starter: Magic’s Touch
When I found this book at the junk shop last weekend I could help but take it to Green Street. A place that was and continues to be “touched” by Magic’s touch. The Viridian (or as I prefer to call it: The Green Street Dorms) continues to amuse. The window treatments at this edifice are particularly provocative. There are not very and as a result I have some insight into the lifestyles of 110 Green Street. A bra-clad woman sitting in a director’s chair here, a bedroom with two sets of bunk beds there; every evening the windows glow with plasma television goodness. I do not want to see these things— but I do. Whatever happened to privacy?
Well, here’s one solution to the problem. But back to Magic and his touch.
Mr. Johnson and his funky bunch have touched Greenpoint…
and some intrepid Garden Spotter has seen fit to return the favor.

Coming To Bedford Avenue: Duane Reade

The scaffolding is down at Bedford Avenue and North 3rd Street and oh, what a sight it is!
Of particular interest to yours truly was the promise of a Duane Reade…
which, it should be noted, will be located right across the street from a veritable Williamsburg institution: Kings Pharmacy. I was not the only person who questioned the wisdom of this business placement. A number of passersby took notice as well. Then again, it’s not like Bedford Avenue hasn’t borne witness to this kind of thing before.

Spotted On Meeker Avenue: Tears
When I saw this billboard (which hails from Leonard Street and Meeker Avenue) I smelled a rat. Sure enough, when I got home and looked up the url my suspicions were confirmed. I understand all to well that everyone needs to make a living. But— and this is a big BUT— given the sheer quantity of illegal advertising (foremost among them billboards) I have seen in north Brooklyn over the years I find it a bit difficult to be sympathetic to these people’s plight.
Besides, how many billboards spreading the good news about surgery-free hemorrhoid treatment (replete with a graphic of a prostate gland, no less) does our fair city require? Really?

Although I have featured this ride earlier this month I couldn’t resist passing along a few shots of its latest incarnation.
The freecycled windshield (which the Mister has told me is the back of an old iMac) is an inspired touch!

Alas, when I walked by Lance was nowhere to be found. I wonder if he had any takers?
