Reader Comment du Jour: F Is For…
It’s been awhile since I have showcased a comment from you, the readers. This is not because I have not been reading (and enjoying) them: I have. The previous having been written, I have to confess that this one (which is in reference to my post announcing the new Greenpoint tank tops available at Kill Devil Hill) is a little more compelling than most. K.A.A. writes:
Another thing to note is the nautical flags. Normally a red square in a white field stands for the letter F and is spoken as ‘Foxtrot’ . The flag also means ‘ I am disabled, communicate with me.’
In nautical and military slang it can also stand for the word Fuck.
So, it seems we have two disabled Greenpoint girls who at least want to talk, will probably go down and maybe even want to fuck
Too funny
It just goes to show you learn something new every day!

Rounding out today’s, Memorial Day’s posts I leave you with these images of some soldiers I found while knocking around Williamsburg and link from my buddy (and fellow Greenpointer) Brooklyn Imbecile. Read it. Perhaps I am being sanguine, but it has been a pleasure to see how his content is evolving!

I couldn’t resist getting a shot of this winsome lass next to my favorite Greenpoint cat of all time while knocking around the Garden Spot this afternoon. When I inquired at to this pup’s name her person replied “Pill”.
Is she a pill?
I asked. His reply was as follows:
Sometimes, yes.

From The Brooklyn Daily Eagle Archives: Dem Bones
Since hearing about the discovery of human remains on Kent Street yesterday yours truly has been wondering (as I suspect we all have) exactly how they got there. To this end I poked around the Brooklyn Daily Eagle archives to see they could shed any light on this and in so doing made some interesting finds. After a casual search I discovered that what transpired this weekend was more common than one would think. Without further ado here are a couple of items. Enjoy!

What yours truly finds fascinating is both incidences came to pass fairly close 119 Kent Street and seem to be at the behest of medical students. Exactly why someone would place the decapitated head of a woman under the floorboards of a butcher shop is anyone’s guess (sick practical joke? an experiment?). I suppose that one will be lost to history. In the meantime, I’ll be very curious to see what our Finest make of this one.
