From The New York Shitty Inbox: Open Call & Meet Greet

Hello Miss Heather!

How are you? Hope all is well. I’m running frantic producing Northside Open Studios and I hope you can help us spread the word…

Greenpoint Open Studios is teaming up with L magazine’s Northside Festival this year to bring you NORTHSIDE OPEN STUDIOS, a four day event celebrating a burgeoning art scene in Greenpoint and Williamsburg, Brooklyn. As artist studios and exhibition spaces continue to emerge in the neighborhood we hope to facilitate the growth of a thriving art community.

Registration is now OPEN and we encourage artists working in all mediums to register online by May 15th. There is a Meet & Greet on April 26th 7:30pm at Brooklyn Brewery located at 79 North 11th Street and we will discuss registration, programming, and any questions. It is very important that artists join us in the meeting and get to know each other and learn about NOS over a complimentary free beer!

Please help us spread the word, our goal is to reach 300 participating artists who can take advantage of the 10,000 brochure copies that will be widely printed and distributed throghout brooklyn, not to mention a vast opportunity for viewership and attendance.

Follow us on twitter, like us on Facebook, and share the open call invite. Feel free to also post any announcements and listings on our page, whether it’s an upcoming show or an available studio down the hall.

Duly noted!

THIS WEEKEND: Greenpoint Open Studios

This item comes courtesy of Eric Shows (whose work “The Cool Wind of Embarrassment and the Conservation of Mass” graces the beginning of this post). He writes:

My studio building will be holding open studios this Saturday from 5-10pm. There are at least 30 artists participating and the building manager is providing a free wine bar and limo service (!!! – Ed. Note) from nearby subway stops…

Now who can argue with that? If Eric’s work is any indication I’d say we’re in for a real treat this weekend! For more information (including full rundown of participants) click here. Check it out!

This item comes from frequent New York Shitty contributor and commenter Tony. He writes:

It’s long overdue. Greenpoint is finally having an Open Studios (for artists) at the end of September. I was hoping you could help get the word out, especially to artists in the hood who haven’t registered yet. It’s free. Weekend of Sept 26 & 27. Registration by Sept.11

Being a lover of the arts (and an artist in my own) right I am more than happy to pass this item along— and I agree with Tony: this IS long overdue. For more information on how you can participate in, volunteer for or sponsor this event click on the above image or email Greenpoint Open Studios at:
