From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part I: A Question About Internet Service Providers

Hi there,
I recently moved to Greenpoint and as the blog-guide to my new hood I thought you might have a tip on internet service providers in the area. It’s a boring inquiry, but advice would be extremely helpful. My realtor said my options are either Time Warner for cable internet or Verizon for dsl internet. How’s your service? (Speedy? Not so speedy?) And what is the dollar per month of surfing the net status?
I have tendered my opinion about Verizon to Alicia (oh, did I ever). However, I would like to hear my fellow Greenpointers’s take on Internet service providers so she can have a more fair and balanced picture of what is available here. Today I took my buddy Triborough for a quick jaunt around points Green and beyond. As is usually the case, it did not disappoint.
It was at the beginning of our journey (on Noble Street) that we encountered Jerzy (AKA: the guy who lives in the pick-up truck on that toy-strewn lot on Franklin Street). He was engaged in a discussion of some importance with a fellow Garden Spotter.
Who watches the watchmen?
His jacket asks.

Note how the family is giving Jerzy a wide berth of passage. This is a sign of high status in Greenpoint.
And then there was what we found towards the end of our trek. It hails form North 7 Street and makes for a strange— yet curiously appropriate— conclusion to our afternoon.
There’s a lot more going on here than initially meets the eye. This is why I carry camera with me at all times!
