Christine (who took all the photographs gracing this post) writes:

Tons of cops at RUMBLERS car show.

Escorting cars out … Skaters at the other end are fine but cars being guided out

The word is a “hells angel” punched a cop…

Shirt says when in doubt knock out… Maybe not a cop…

UPDATE, 6:52 p.m.: All is quiet…

UPDATE, 10:40 p.m.: I have the 411 about what happened from D. I. Hurson himself! He writes:

Miss Heather I noticed you have pictures of the car show. The event was larger then allowed. They were permitted for only two blocks but it stretched from Union to Manhattan ave. Several cars and motorcycles started drag racing.  I ordered the event closed early and dispersed the crowd we made two arrest and issued numerous summonses. We will not allow them to get a permit next year.

UPDATE, August 21, 2011 12:20 p.m.: An anonymous tipster writes:

Hi, I would like it if you could add the following video to your story of the police shutting down the Rumblers car show on Saturday, August 20th, 2011. In the commanding officer’s statement he said that he ordered the show to be shut down due to “Several cars and motorcycles started drag racing.” Yet in this youtube video clip (Which dates from 2008 —Ed. Note), the police are the ones doing a burn out, and driving recklessly through a crowded street at The Rumblers Car Show.

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Shock & Awe

Those of you who happen to have the day off (or are simply unemployed) will be hard-pressed to find anything more interesting than what is going down at 373 Graham Avenue. My tipster, Clay, writes:

If you haven’t checked out the insanity on Graham just north of Skillman you should do so immediately. What started as a ghoulish sale of a dead woman’s belongings that no one would ever think of paying for has turned into … God, I don’t even know what to call it. I do know that when they put out the scrawled PRIVATE SALE signs and an old guy would sit outside inviting only young women to come in I just thought it was creepy. Same with when they put the statuary lions out and invited people to take photographs with them. Even the signs requesting “cigar models” and actors for a “theatrical troupe” and announcing the formation of an opera club just seemed odd. But today’s sign reading SINATRA CD’S WANTED makes me believe that the whole thing may be satire.

Today (as you can probably deduce) I swung by to see this for myself.

This is most assuredly NOT satire.

This is the real deal. So much so that even my video camera failed to capture it…

TWICE!

This one is best seen (and heard) in person, folks. All I can say is WOW!

UPDATE, 4:34 p.m.: Here’s what another eyewitness has to say;

I believe the woman who lived there is still alive, the man is her nephew. She had to go to the hospital and from there he put her in a home. Today as we passed he was handing out flowers and singing opera.
