New York Shitty Day Starter: Back at it at 184 Eagle?
Remember 184 Eagle Street? For those of you who don’t it is a failed condo (nondo) which was being pressed into service as an illegal “hostel”. Truth be told I had almost forgotten about this bit of real estate bust hilarity. Almost: I recently received a reminder in my inbox:
concerned neighbor who writes:
You know I really bought the whole rogue tenant thing UNTIL now!!!!
Here is a listing for a 1 week “sublet” @ 184 eagle street…

Perhaps I am being a stickler but didn’t the ad copy clearly state this apartment was furnished?
Hmm…
(to be continued, no doubt…)

is it illegal to sublet? i’m confused…
This is actually quite different from what was going on before. This is a sublet for one specific week. Obviously it is someone who is going out of town and wants to sublet their apartment for that time. So of course it would be furnished. If it didn’t say Nov. 7-14 I would be more concerned.
I have my doubts, Galen. First off, if the apartment if furnished why are the photographs of an unfurnished apartment? If I were to sublet a space for one week I’d want to see what the furnishings are like. Secondly, the agent advertising this “sublet” is also advertising apartments to rent— USING THE EXACT SAME PICTURES!
Something is not right here.
