New York Shitty Day Ender: When Worlds Collide
The proceedings were rather lively at this evening’s 94th Precinct Community Council meeting. Naturally I shot footage and have commenced uploading it. (TEASER: Phyllis was in particularly interesting form.) In the meantime I want to leave you with something I spied before the aforementioned event. A moving sale of such a special (and distinctly Greenpoint) caliber it deserves a post of its own. Here it is.
The above photograph does not do the strobe light (which was quite an attention getter) justice. Fortunately that’s why god invented video. Enjoy!
If anyone out there is looking for a condominium on Greenpoint Avenue methinks one will be hitting the market. Soon.

From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part II: For Whom The Bells Toll
A chap named Rich writes:
Hey Heather. I don’t know if you noticed but the bells started ringing Friday night by some miracle. Do you have any info as to how, why? etc? I doubt they raised the 10k in a few short weeks. I look forward to you posting something about it because hearing the bells brought me such joy.
Today I kept my ears open and sure enough: they were back! But don’t take my word for it. Hearing is believing!
Needless to say I will have to get to the bottom of this fortuitous turn of events! In the meantime if anyone reading this has the 411 on what happened do share via comments or email at missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com.

New York Shitty Day Ender: Manhattan Avenue
When I saw these two stunning lasses this afternoon I simply had to take their photograph. Afterward, they told me about a fundraiser their group, Polish American Folk Dance Company, was conducting to pay for travel expenses so they can enter a competition in Poland. Naturally I swung by. That’s when I learned they will be performing their entry for our delectation at Greenpoint’s very own Warsaw June 19th. Methinks I will have to check this out!

P.S.: The PAFDC will be having another fundraiser this upcoming Saturday, May 21, at The Loft (which is located at 222 West Street). You can get the 411 for this event by clicking here!
Spotted At 1073 Manhattan Avenue: The Lobster Joint
A very excited chap named Charles writes:
Just spoke to a nice gentleman from the (awesome looking!) lobster place in the former lamb and jaffy space – he said they’re opening on the 25th with “lobster rolls, burgers, liquor” and it will be called “The Lobster Joint”. STOKED
Naturally I had to see this for myself. So today I swung by to see what gives.
They’ve done a really nice job with the exterior.
The interior looks rather inviting as well. After making it known I was a vegetarian (as as such doe not share Charle’s excitement about consuming crustaceans) the kindly proprietor (who is apparently a New York Shitty reader!) assured me there would be a “veggie melt” on the menu (which is not yet published) along with lighter fare such as salads. I may very well might to have to give this a shot come May 25th!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: This Week At The Shit Tits
Pa Heather once told yours truly she had no ambition. I took issue with this at the time but in the cold, cruel clarity that is hindsight he was correct: I was lacking direction. This has since changed. I have found my happy place (that being Greenpoint, of course) and while living here I have discovered a manifold number of things which engage me. Among them: being the goodwill ambassador of and mascot for our beloved Waste Water Treatment Plant. More specifically: The Shit Tits. While this might not be everyone’s idea of “making it” in Greenpoint (or in New York City and at life for that matter) it is mine. Don’t shit on my dreams and I will not shit on yours.
I was not shit talking when I wrote my snow globe was progressing nicely. It is.
After no less than three attempts methinks I have it right this time around. The first prototype was simply too “busy”: too much shit in too little space. I realized a trifecta of turdiness was in order:
- One snow globe of a Shit Tit (as seen above in unfinished form)
- One snow globe of the Nature Walk (replete with a kayaker!)
- One snow globe of the Dupont Street sludge tank (for obvious reasons)
But back to the events at hand:
