LAST GASP: An Update Regarding St. Anthony’s
A number of people have voiced interest in making online contributions so as to get St. Anthony’s bells back a’ ringing. I am pleased to announce a parishioner (and tipster) has erected a ChipIn page for just this purpose! Laura writes:
So, I still have alot of work to do on this (can do it Monday evening on a train ride back to the city) but a ChipIn page is up and running to raise funds for the bells!
What’s good about ChipIn is that it has a counter and shows how close we are to reaching the goal (I said $10K) and has a widget that bloggers and websites can add to their pages and anyone can add to Facebook. I attached some code if you want to try it out…
Obviously there are still some refinements which need to be made— but without further ado here it is! Help spread the word!

Found At The McCarren Dog Run: An Update
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
I am pleased to announce that this lovely lass who was recently found at the McCarren Park Dog Run has been given a clean bill of health courtesy of our local veterinarian, Brad Seaman! This evening she will be spayed and thereafter will be ready for adoption. If you or anyone you know, dear readers, are interested in giving this very sweet and well-behaved lady the loving home she deserves— or simply want to learn more about her— please contact her good Samaritan at the above-listed telephone number. Thanks!

Spotted On Manhattan Avenue: Polish Reggae
Am I the only person who finds this rather enticing? In any case, the fact they named this event (band?) after a creature which purportedly sucks blood from livestock (Ed. Note: chupacabra means “goat sucker” in Spanish) is pure gravy. No pun intended.

From The Greenpoint Grapevine: What’s Up At 1000 Manhattan Avenue?
Yesterday I was amazed and actually quite pleased to notice signs of life at this long-derelict store front. Curious to know what was slated to grace this space I asked a man working on the premises. He said he was not completely certain but thought that the M & W Laundromat across the street was going to place a dry cleaning establishment there. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen— but I am certain the Corner Frenzy’s inimitable Miriam will fact-check me! In any case, its come a long way from the time I walked by to encounter a trio of men with their pet goat!*

*And of course, there was this colossal eyesore/public nuisance. Ah, memories…
