From The New York Shitty Inbox: Pedestrian Hit?
This item comes from a lady named Laura. She writes:
hey heather,
i was picking up some food yesterday and passed a very unfortunate scene, a young woman was lying in the road with a crowd gathered around her, pretty unresponsive, wasn’t moving. the fdny loaded her into an ambulance, but there didn’t seem to be a big rush. i have no idea who she is but i feel awful and haven’t heard anything about her. have you heard any news? i hope she is okay. please let me know if you hear of anything. it was franklin st & milton ave approx. 6-630pm on 4/20/11.
I have not heard anything but I suspect I write for everyone reading this that I hope this woman makes a full recovery. Does anyone out there know what happened? If so please share via comments or shoot me an email at missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. Thanks!

New York Shitty Day Ender: Public Safety

Miss Mousey Brown was kind enough to tender this photo of our Public Safety Chair, Mieszko Kalita, to my photo pool. I suspect her reasoning for doing so was to highlight his rather jaunty tie. That, it is. The Mister even noted his pocket square (whatever that is) was in keeping with said tie. He called this sartorial. Nonetheless, this image provides me a reason to link to what he had to say about the so-called “moratorium” on liquor licenses and the rancor which preceded it on WPIX recently. I for one think his analysis is spot-on. You can (and should) check this out by clicking here.

P.S.: Mr. Kalita’s opinion has been endorsed by the UNofficial Community Board 1 Public Safety Committee Ladies Auxiliary by a vote of four in favor with one absence/abstention.

From P.S. 31: Three Children In Need
This afternoon I was procuring a much-needed cup of liquid energy (READ: coffee) from Cafecito Bogota, Ms. Carol entered and told us about this fund-raising effort she was putting together. Needless to say both the proprietor of Cafecito, Freddy Varela, and I found these childrens’ plight absolutely heart-wrenching. Individuals and businesses interested in making a donation should contact send an email to dbsjess (at) aol (dot) com be sure to include “PS 31” in the subject line.
Thanks!

Greenpoint Street Seating Watch: 19 Days Later

It would appear someone has gotten a little rough with our intrepid (and lewd) piece of street seating. One can only imagine what led up to this…

From The New York Shitty Inbox: A Bodega Takeover?
This item comes courtesy of a lady named Erin. She writes:
Hi,
Just wanted to send in a tip that a Rachel’s Garden truck is parked out in front of the Manhattan Deli & Grocery store that has been closed for renovation for a few months. The inside looks like it has more gourmet and Polish grocery items than the previous incarnation. Wonder if Rachel’s is taking over the store?
Methinks this might merit a recon mission! In the interim if anyone has the 411 on what is going on please share via comments or email at missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. Thanks!

Found At McCarren Park…
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
this lass. The details I have currently are scant, but here’s what I have are courtesy of our good Samaritan, Miss Mousey Brown:
Can you help me find shelter for a dog found in a Brooklyn dog run. She’s an adult female. Very sweet dog and particularly fond of females, I think. I don’t know what to do with her, because our zoo is to capacity…
I have forwarded this missive to a few folks who might be able to lend a hand. In the meantime if anyone reading this knows to whom this lady belongs or wishes to provide her a foster home please shoot me an email to mcdogrun@gmail.com. Thanks!
UPDATE April 21: Brad Seaman of Greenpoint Veterinary Hospital writes;
Hey – she’s coming in tomorrow. We’ll be taking a good picture of her, making a flyer, putting it up, and sending it around.
