Williamsburg Photo du Jour: Father Giorgio Triangle
As some of you might remember this plaque was stolen and sold for scrap last month.

Halloween Photos du Jour: Wonderful At 149 Withers
Filed under: Williamsburg
My hairdresser Anna tipped me off to this one earlier this week. After I got off of work today I headed down there without delay. I was not disappointed.
While not on par with the Haunted House on Humboldt it does have its charm.
Demons, rats and a black cat grace its front door.
Instead of having bats in one’s belfry they have them on siding! Very north Brooklyn if I say so myself!
According to the Bible death rides a white horse. In “East Williamsburg” he drives a wagon.
Replete with disembodied limbs, skulls, hay and… Monica Lewinsky?!?

Williamsburg Photo du Jour: Sandwiches Fit For A President!
Looks like the P.J. Sunny Deli (at 308 Manhattan Avenue*) is getting into the election spirit by offering sandwiches for people of both parties. Which one tickles your fancy?
- The McCain: Turkey, salami, lettuce, tomato and mayo on a roll.
- The Whit(e) House: Chicken breast, mozzarella cheese, tomato and honey mustard on a roll.
- The Obama: Pastrami, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato on a roll.
Where’s the Nader FLT? (Facon with lettuce, tomato and vegan mayo).

*Don’t jump on this all at once print reporters. You know who you are.
Boobification Photos du Jour: Magic Bus On Meeker Avenue
This one goes out to the woman who hung out of the window of a passing Honda (I think) and shouted:
NICE!
Positive feedback regarding my Boobifcation Project is always appreciated. Thank you, whoever you are.
In closing it would appear that north Brooklyn boobification is catching on.
CASES IN POINT: The pay phone in front of the Big D store on Manhattan Avenue…
and this flier at Kent Street.
Just across the street from the “Happy End” Restaurant, no less!
NICE.

Happy Feral Cat Day!
It’s been awhile since I have featured the lovely, loving, UBER-adorable and eminently ADOPTABLE kittens at Empty Cages Collective. Since today is indeed “Feral Cat Day”* I thought I’d share this hilarious video of Giselle (a feral momma) and her “Tiny Dancers” by Lisacat. Enjoy!
Mikhail (the grey cat) is quite the ham but I assure you Twyla and Margot are equally charming (if a little more subdued). If you’re looking for a roommate of the four-legged variety why not make an appointment to meet the tiny dancers? They’ll steal your heart!

*It’s also National Bosses Day. Coincidence? I think not.
TOMORROW: Benefit For A Good Cause
Theresa writes:
Jennifer Hilton, a local activist for and long-time resident of the Greenpoint/Williamsburg community is asking for our help.
…in early June Jennifer had emergency surgery and was diagnosed with stage three color cancer. A single mother who is in between jobs and who recently sent her daughter off to college, she is faced with a tidal wave of costs associated with her treatment. To chill out this wave, Jen has decided to hold a fundraiser to help defray these costs and to contribute to an organization that has been instrumental in easing her burden, CancerCare.
This benefit will be no small affair. People and businesses from the area have generously offered their support:
- Teddy’s Bar & Grill will be hosting the event
- Brooklyn Brewery will be providing a keg of their fine local brew – profits to Jen.
- One of most amazing guitar players on the planet, Hugh Pool, and his band will be jamming live
In addition there will be a raffle and silent auction for items donated by local businesses, artists and artisans.

THIS WEEK: Take Back The Southside
After witnessing what can only described as a melee (replete with police helicopters) last Friday night I would be sorely remiss if I did not pass this item along. Anyone wishing to participate in this “peaceful walk to the 90th Precinct” should be sure to arrive at Washington Park before 7:30 p.m. (when this demonstration is scheduled to begin).

Williamsburg Photo du Jour: Hope
Yesterday we became acquainted with what the Gowanus Lounge called “The Greenpoint Mattress Mountain“. Today I thought it would only be appropriate to follow it up with some more street furniture…
Barack Obama style! Judy (who not only authors the tremendously entertaining blog Bad Advice but was kind enough to let me post this, her photograph) wrote:
I love the way he’s watching over these mattresses. Mattresses that are no doubt infested with bedbugs.
These are not just any bedbugs, Judy. They are bedbugs with the audacity of hope!

Well Look At This
After writing about the bag depicted to the left LAST WEEK it has come to my attention via Gothamist that the New York Post has brought this to the attention of the Russian Orthodox Church (with predictable results). Way to go guys, that’s what I call professionalism! Perhaps I should provide you with my mailing address so you can simply cut me a check (READ: finders fee) every time you use my web site for news leads without citing it? Would that make it easier for you?
Please advise.
