TOMORROW: Mister Market
Filed under: 11101, 11211, 11222, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Long Island City, Long Island City Queens, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
This item has been brought to my attention by that dynamic duo, Tommy and Roy, better known as the Alter Boys. Tomorrow they, along with a number of other notable north Brooklyn businesses (like Kill Devil Hill!) will be selling their wares at the Mister Market. The whole shebang kicks off at noon. Why not swing by and see what they’re got cooking?

Public Assembly
70 North 6 Street
Brooklyn, New York 11211
You can get more information about this event by checking out Mister Market’s web site.
In closing (and on a shameless self-promoting note) I’d like to remind everyone that the “closing reception” for my photography show at Creek & Cave is tomorrow starting at 3:30 p.m. You can get the full 411 by clicking here.

P.S.: Lest any of you are wondering why I put “closing reception” in quotation marks it is because I have gotten word that my show has been extended! And somehow “middling reception” does not strike me as being very snappy.

TOMORROW: Free Sunflowers!
As some of you might recall the man behind Project Sunflower gave away free sunflowers last month. Well, I am pleased to announce he’s back and will be giving out more golden goodness tomorrow! Matt writes:
Project Sunflower is a non-profit organization that I have started with one goal in mind, to beautify all 5 boroughs. I hope to start achieving this goal by giving away sunflowers that will then in turn be planted by you wherever you feel needs a bit more color or on a plot of land that needs a bit of love. This Saturday from 11am to 12pm I will be giving away free, sprouted, mammoth sunflower plants. Come by, pick up a sunflower and grow your very own.

Reader Contribution Du Jour: Over The Rainbow
Filed under: 11101, 11222, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Long Island City, Long Island City Queens, Newtown Creek
These stunning images (one of which features one of yours trulys favorite things!) come courtesy of Beebe, who writes:
I’m a long-time reader, first time emailer. I’m an Astoria resident with a studio in the very southern part of LIC. So I frequently look across the water to Greenpoint. Late this afternoon, I shot a rainbow sprouting over the Shit Tits. (I apologize for not knowing the name of the sewage processing plant and relying on such crude slang.) It’s yours to use as you see fit… I’m also attaching a photo of tonight’s fantastic sunset. Just in case.
Keep up the shitty (i.e. good!) work?
Thanks for the images— and the kind words.
Miss Heather
P.S.: Oh yeah, it’s officially called The Newtown Creek Waste Treatment Facility. But I stick with Shit Tits. It rolls off the tongue more elegantly.
