This afternoon I was procuring a much-needed cup of liquid energy (READ: coffee) from Cafecito Bogota, Ms. Carol entered and told us about this fund-raising effort she was putting together. Needless to say both the proprietor of Cafecito, Freddy Varela, and I found these childrens’ plight absolutely heart-wrenching. Hi,

Just wanted to send in a tip that a Rachel’s Garden truck is parked out in front of the Manhattan Deli & Grocery store that has been closed for renovation for a few months. The inside looks like it has more gourmet and Polish grocery items than the previous incarnation. Wonder if Rachel’s is taking over the store?

this lass. The details I have currently are scant, but here’s what I have are courtesy of our good Samaritan, Miss Mousey Brown:

Can you help me find shelter for a dog found in a Brooklyn dog run. She’s an adult female. Very sweet dog and particularly fond of females, I think. I don’t know what to do with her, because our zoo is to capacity…
