I wanted to ask if you would help WIB promote an event we are hosting with Brooklyn Based, to raise funds for ReStore Red Hook…

Thanks so much for any help you’re able to give. If not, no worries, I hope to see you soon!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Open Call & Meet Greet

This item comes courtesy of the brains behind Greenpoint Open Studios, Joann Kim. She writes:

Hello Miss Heather!

How are you? Hope all is well. I’m running frantic producing Northside Open Studios and I hope you can help us spread the word…

Greenpoint Open Studios is teaming up with L magazine’s Northside Festival this year to bring you NORTHSIDE OPEN STUDIOS, a four day event celebrating a burgeoning art scene in Greenpoint and Williamsburg, Brooklyn. As artist studios and exhibition spaces continue to emerge in the neighborhood we hope to facilitate the growth of a thriving art community.

Registration is now OPEN and we encourage artists working in all mediums to register online by May 15th. There is a Meet & Greet on April 26th 7:30pm at Brooklyn Brewery located at 79 North 11th Street and we will discuss registration, programming, and any questions. It is very important that artists join us in the meeting and get to know each other and learn about NOS over a complimentary free beer!

Please help us spread the word, our goal is to reach 300 participating artists who can take advantage of the 10,000 brochure copies that will be widely printed and distributed throghout brooklyn, not to mention a vast opportunity for viewership and attendance.

Follow us on twitter, like us on Facebook, and share the open call invite. Feel free to also post any announcements and listings on our page, whether it’s an upcoming show or an available studio down the hall.

Duly noted!

I did not get this vigilant tabby’s name. Just suffice to say she* took the task of guarding the hops at Brooklyn Brewery very, very seriously!

New York Shitty Day Starter: The OSA Trilogy Part 2

It’s dull as dishwater— unless you paid attention to the last segment. Wherein I stated “OSA Presents Inc.” was created by:

…certain members of the Board of Directors of OSA…

and noted the org in question was headquartered at 79 North 11 Street: the Brooklyn Brewery. OSA Presents Inc. was created without “Community Committee’s” knowledge. It was OSA’s ostensible attempt at claiming community feedback/input. If the buzz I have heard is correct a great many people were unaware about OSA Presents Inc. Including so-called “board members”. Which is why I find this filing for an extension so interesting.

New York Shitty Analysis: When an organization takes this long to file a tax return (I hail from a bloodline plagued by accountants) it makes me wonder. This is what happens when millionaires, people with monetary interests and the “powers that be” which are beholden to them (Mayor Bloomberg et. al.) dictate what is in the best interests of north Brooklyn. Their interests.
