Spotted At Franklin & Eagle Street: Traffic Counters
If what I saw this morning is any indication the recent complaints about truck traffic in North ‘Point are being taken quite seriously by our elected officials and our local Community Board. I suspect I speak on the behalf of everyone who resides hereabouts when I write:
THANK YOU!!!

Spotted At 205 Java Street: A Happy Ending
Some of you might recall the above bit of real estate insanity. I wrote about it on January 25th of this year. At the end of this tome I opined:
…My prognostication is as follows: if they fuck with their diminutive neighbor’s satellite television it will be war. Provided of course it hasn’t escalated to that level already.
Well, today I did a walk by and have some very good news to relay!
The satellite dish has been spared! After I took the above photographs the lady of the house inquired as to my interest in her property. I told her I was happy to see that her satellite dish has not been engulfed. To wit she replied:
I’m too good for them.
I then noted that her new neighbor is rather hideous. She agreed— but prefers to see the glass half full; since 285 – 303 McGuinness Boulevard has become her neighbor she no longer has issues with the wind (I am presuming the “perfume” from our local waste water treatment plant) and she no longer hears the traffic from McGuinness Boulevard. Now throw in that our diminutive protagonist’s satellite television is intact and I’d say we have a triple win— Greenpoint style!

From The Brooklyn Daily Eagle Archives: This Old House
As many of your are aware I took my buddy Kevin Walsh around our fair neighborhood. One block both he and I enjoyed was Huron Street. I made sure to point out to him the above house which I particularly like. This house (located at 109 Huron Street) is among yours trulys personal favorites. On a lark this weekend I researched it on the Brooklyn Daily Eagle archives. Not only did a find a couple of news items but they were of a decidedly shady variety! Kicking things off I present for your entertainment this tale of a disputed inheritance which dates from the September 12, 1896 edition of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. Enjoy!
So how did it end? Well, I could not find anything in the archives but if the next item (which comes four years later) is any indication, everyone was sent packing. It became the residence of one Mr. Mooney. He was looking for a fight and guess what? He found it.
Who knew such a cute little house had such a sordid history!

Those of you who have been wondering what is going on at the end of Java Street, I will tell you: they are setting up a temporary park. While hardly lush, I have to say I rather like these polka dots!
