Greenpoint Photos Du Jour: Keramos
These photos do not do this nifty bit of old Greenpoint justice. Go to 861 Manhattan Avenue and see it for yourself!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: What’s Up At North 15 & Berry Street?
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
I asked this very question here on New York Shitty a few days ago. Today I am pleased to announce that I have an answer thanks to Jay of Dog Habitat! He writes:
I took Abby out for a late night stroll to McCarren park and walked by that food cart/wagon on that triangle at Berry, Banker and N15. There was a gentleman there with a shovel digging along the sidewalk. He greeted me with a hearty “how do you do?” and I walked over to investigate. I was glad I had a big dog at my side because he was, after all, armed with a shovel and who knows what else. Turns out this guy was very friendly and told me he’s planting flowers! [cue REM’s Gardening at Night]. I didn’t catch the guys name, but he said he was fixing up the spot for his buddy who was opening a hot dog stand. He was working late because he’s a driver for a car service and was shoveling/planting in-between passenger pick-ups. I’ll keep an eye on the wagon and will let you know when they start servin’ up dogs and who knows what else.
And here are the fruits of his labor.
So there have you. Thanks Jay for getting to the bottom of this Greenpoint mystery!

Spotted On Oak Street: Magic Supplies
If there is one thing that warms yours truly’s heart it is a sight such as this (which hails from Oak Street): our neighborhood’s youth getting hands-on experience with our country’s free enterprise system. I don’t know if there is much of a market for “magic supplies” (I can only hope there is), but our intrepid young entrepreneur, Natalia has a diverse array of business endeavors. I learned this when I rounded the corner to Lorimer Street.
In closing, I feel compelled to point out that the youngster(s) behind all the above solicitations also has a side business in “hampster moving”. Methinks we may very well have just seen the handiwork of the next Bill Gates or Steve Jobs folks. Who needs an iPad when you can have magic— and a kitten?

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Much Ado About Vets
My inbox has abuzz of late with questions about the Greenpoint Veterinary Hospital. Most of these inquiries center around whether or not this establishment is open. Well, today I received confirmation that it is open for business from a very satisfied customer! Vince writes:
Hey Miss Heather,
I was perusing the shittyblog and saw the 4 Bed Stuy cats …Adorable! I don’t know about all of them, but the one tentatively named “Smudgy” is a dead ringer for King Diamond!
Also, I wanted to let you know I made my first visit to the new Vet on Nassau Ave last night for a bit of an emergency w/ one of my furry little seniors. The place is fantastic, and the Dr. is a wonderful young guy who managed to see me on REALLY short notice, just after closing for the day. The missus is there now for a little follow up, but I’m really quite pleased with this place. I’ve felt like the more personable vets around the area don’t have terribly great resources, and the ones with the resources are like strange animal medicine factories. They have been really straightforward about what the issue may or may not be and the different avenues available for treatment and I think really have the best interests of our little friends in mind. I’m really glad this place has opened up.
So there have you. Thanks for the report on our new vet, Vince. By the way, naming a cat King Diamond is nothing short of awesome!

TODAY: Everything Goes At Studio B!
This fitting end to our local institution comes from the King of Cabbies. He writes:
Saw an auction ad on the back of yesterday’s Times’ Business section, for this Wednesday at 2:00 PM, that I thought might interest you. It is the equipment and effects of the late, unlamented Studio B, ready to be carted away from the belly of the beast itself!
I for one like how Studio B is mentioned not once, but twice, as being “well known”. That it was— albeit probably not in the way the manner the auctioneer intended. You can get the full rundown of what’s for sale by clicking here.

P.S.: I have no idea what “Onwars” are, but a $100,000.00 “retractable roof”?!? That’s downright handy!
