Mornin’
Just wanted to alert you to something cool happening over on Franklin and Noble. Le Gamin is having a soft opening with a twist. You order at the their food truck and sit inside the new cafe. Saw a few folks taking advantage of the unique arrangement and may join them! If you are nearby check it out. I think they’ll be a great addition to the hood!

New York Shitty Turns Four!

You know what they say:

Time flies when you’re having fun.

I can’t honestly say operating New York Shitty has been fun 100% of the time. It has on occasion entailed pulling all nighters, grabbing my camera, tossing on my coat and heading out when I would just as well stay home, etc. In short, it can and is hard work. But it is work I find rewarding nonetheless: if I can in some small way serve my community by operating this web site so be it. Besides, most of the time it IS fun.

I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to my readers and the many folks who have sent me contributions over the years. They are greatly appreciated— even if I do not always use them. On that note I am going to share a nifty piece of New Yorkiana I found yesterday at the junk shop. Enjoy!

Thanks again— and here’s to another year!

Has You Seen Cosmo?

I have spied two fliers soliciting help bringing Cosmo home: one at Dog Habitat, the other at Pets on the Run. If you have seen Cosmo or know of her whereabouts please contact her person at the above-listed telephone number. Not only does this little one require medication, but her mother is very worried about her!

Thanks.

Remember how I reported on Wednesday that the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Newtown Creek Waste Treatment facility’s Visitor’s Center was canceled? Well, it would appear we’re back on!

My advice: RSVP before they change their mind. Get your Shit Tit shirts ready fellow Garden Spotters!

P.S.: Maybe if we’re lucky Mr. Acconci will do a reenactment of Seedbed for us!

Vertuccio’s Pizza installed a neon sign today, next to their spy cam, right across from the Green Dome garden.  It is time for them to take both down and leave.

My knee jerk reaction to this (after cringing, that is) was to check the Department of Buildings to see if they has a permit for this sign. Sure enough, they do. What I found particularly intriguing was this passage in said permit:

Not knowing offhand about how big McCarren Park is, I decided to consult Google Maps. Vertuccio’s location (232 North 12 Street) is indicated with an “A”.

For those of you who are not in the know an acre is 43,560 square feet. Hmm…
