New York Shitty Day Starter: Found At The McCarren Dog Run

A good Samaritan named Christina writes:

Hi Miss Heather,

I am a Williamsburg resident and a dog owner of a while whopping year. I was at the dog park (McCarren dog run) on 9/13 and found an abandoned dog there. Poor thing had been tied up to a fence with no tags, no micro chip, etc.

Just look at this guy!!! He’s adorable. I took him home because I couldn’t just leave him there, you know? I took him to our vet and he’s around 8 years old, needs a dental cleaning, and is unfixed, but he’s probably one of the chillest dogs I’ve ever met. For real, all he does all day is sleep and sit in your lap.

He’s 9 lbs. Pretty tiny. So I’m asking if you’d post about him on your blog. He didn’t do anything wrong to deserve being abandoned, and the ASPCA said they would come pick him up, but that if he couldn’t find a home, he’d be euthanized.

He’s really sweet and deserves the best. He enjoys kibble, long walks, napping, and water…. (the dog on the left is MY dog and is not up for adoption)!

Anyone interested in giving this cutie the care and forever home he deserves should contact Christina via email at: stina93446 (at) mac (dot) com

Thanks— and please spread the word!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: A Very Special Burglary

A lady we’ll call “L” writes:

Hi Heather,

I live on Humboldt and Grand, and my apt was just burglarized on Tuesday during the day. I dunno if it is related to this: http://www.newyorkshitty.com/williamsburg/?p=66597  – but thought it could be possible since it’s right down the street. Whoever broke into my place got away with my stuff though— including my 32” TV, 2 computers, and a whole bag of lingerie I’d just received as a bachelorette party gift!

Before I proceed I want to say I am very relived this woman was not home when this break-in came to pass. She is safe and sound. The previous having been written; a 32 inch television, two computers and lingerie? In the words of Major “King” Kong in Dr. Strangelove:

Shoot, a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.

Now At Driggs Pizza: A Vegetarian Delight

This summer I noticed the arrival of this, one of the finest vegetarian pies to be found in our fair city. As you can see it sports the usual suspects, e.g.; olive, mushrooms, tomatoes and (of course) cheese. What you may not be able to ascertain is it sports a couple unusual items as well: asparagus and artichoke hearts! Then as seemingly soon as this culinary delight came— it went. Well, as it would happen I was contacted by the chap designing Driggs Pizza’s new web site recently. I brought my despondency to his attention and he, in turn, brought it to theirs. Thus it came to pass that these kind folks were nice enough to whip me up my very own pie— and bring it back on weekends moving forward! This pie will set you back $4.00 a slice or $24.00 a pie. You have my personal word it is truly worth it. Give it a try!
