This comes courtesy of a very nice lady named Lisa. She wanted me to spread the word and I’ll gladly do so!

Greenpoint, Brooklyn – Rust and gold leaves and pumpkins set the scene for The Monitor School’s Annual Fall Fest at PS 110 this Saturday from 11am – 2pm. The event will be in the Monitor Street School yard.

The community is invited to this family-friendly event complete with ticketed bouncy castles crafts, a raffle, and a variety of food for purchase. Take pictures in our pumpkin patch and take home a pumpkin of your own just in time for Halloween. All proceeds from the day will go directly to the students’ art residencies.

Learn more about the initiatives the school and PTA are making to help environmental education while having fun crafting with found recyclables at our AquaLab table.

Come celebrate the cooler temps and the start of the holiday season with a Greenpoint event that brings the community together.

Check it out!

On a related note— and rounding posts on this “Columbus Day”— I would like to give a big New York Shitty salute to Business Insider for publishing what has to be one of the finest takedowns of the New York Times yours truly has ever read. Well done!

Those of you who have not done so already should check out the lovely (and by all appearances, completed) mural at 969 Manhattan Avenue (on India Street). It’s a nice pick-me-up on this dreary day!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: It’s BAAAAAAAACK!

A fellow named Tony writes yesterday, October 12th, in an email entitled “HALLOWEEN”:

HEY JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW I HAVE DECORATED AGAIN FOR HALLOWEEN. 648 HUMBOLDT STREET. I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU ENJOY IT..  THANX

Today I decided to swing by and verify this wonderful turn-of-events in person. Guess what?

Granted, this is still a very much “work in progress” (for example: the toxic waste/blood vomiting ghoul has not been installed yet). Nonetheless I feel compelled as a citizen to share the good news ASAP. This is a red letter day in Greenpoint, Garden Spotters!

Mark Your Calendars: All Creatures Great & Small

Annual Blessing of the Animals nys

Just today I recalled we were reaching the time of year when the Church of the Ascension (in honor of St. Francis) hosts its annual blessing and remembrance service for critters of all kinds. Then, serendipitously enough, I spy Reverend Merz himself on Manhattan Avenue posting fliers. This is a wonderful event and a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors and fellow furkids— past and present. Check it out!
