New York Shitty Slide Show Du Jour: Sunset Park Selections
As I have previous stated, yesterday I spent late afternoon and evening with the inimitable Carnade knocking around Sunset Park. In addition to making the acquaintance of Thatcher the Bodega Cat and stumbling upon a particularly nifty piece by Dan Witz we saw (and photographed) a lot of neat stuff. Follows are some highlights from yours truly. Enjoy!

I thought I was going to end today’s postage with a woman giving not-so-thinly veiled ministrations to a bottle of wine. What can I say? My mind has decided to join my mouth in the gutter of late. Personally I blame the weather. Anyhoo, when I checked out my photo pool and found this item from algul siento my inner 14 year old squealed with delight. Something this special (and strangely sexual) simply could not wait until tomorrow!
…I hope you die riding on my parts.

New York Shitty Day Ender: Not So Subliminal Advertising
This evening I will leave you this lovely item which hails from (what I am guessing is) Red Hook. I suspect many of you, dear readers, will not be surprised when I tell you this business is located next door to an adult entertainment establishment sporting live girls and nudie booths. Both are purportedly owned by the same person(s).

Urban Fur: Meet The Iron Lady
This afternoon/evening yours truly went on a photo walk with a frequent contributor of my photo pool: Carnade. Knowing my affection for Mexican culinary items we decided to check out Sunset Park. He played tour guide. Where he went, I followed. One of the stops we made was at the above bodega: Sam’s Grocery. It is, as I learned, a very curious place. For starters I met Sam: he is Lebanese. For those of you playing along at home (and to make it perfectly clear) we are in a bodega which sells Mexican groceries whose (very nice) proprietor hails from the Middle East. Stuff such as this is why I love New York City. But it gets much more interesting, as you will see.
Meet Sam’s bodega cat in residence. Carnade inquired as to what this fetching feline’s name was.
Thatcher.
Sam replied. Carnade and I couldn’t believe what we just heard so we asked again.
Thatcher, you know after the British Prime Minister. It’s a nice name, yes?
Sam said.
Me (once I absorbed what I have just heard):
I guess it depends on one’s politics.
Then Carnade asked the $64,000 question:
Do you like Margaret Thatcher?
To wit Sam gave the coup de grace:
No, I hate her.
And then he proceeded to explain why. Inasmuch I could ascertain Sam’s dislike of Ms. Thatcher had something to do with Cyprus. Exactly why Sam elected to name this (very friendly) cat after the Iron Lady remains a mystery. Methinks it is probably better that way.

New York Shitty Slide Show Du Jour: Mixed Signals
Yesterday as would luck would have it my colleague over at the Newtown Pentacle was in my neck of the woods. On a lark, I decided to tag along as he walked to the Williamsburg Bridge. Not only I was looking forward to some face time with my friend across the creek but it also happens that this structure has become one of yours trulys favorite haunts. Why, you ask? Very simple:
- It is various lovely shades of pink.
- The missives written on and around this bridge are too darned interesting.
In regards to the latter-most point (and in my observation) these communiques run the gamut from cryptic to cute to curiously motivational to (as we have seen above) offers some of us might not refuse. Follows is a mini slide show of highlights from yesterday’s sojourn on the bridge. Enjoy!
