NoLita Recession Watch: Let Them Eat Caviar
Tonight the Mister and I showed some friends from out of town the sights in Little Italy. When I saw the following (which hails from Mott Street) I stopped dead in my tracks.
My god, WHO would buy— much less be seen in public— such a thing? Only a certifiable asshole would carry a handbag like this.
No one in our party saw fit to disagree with the aforementioned observation. Then I noticed another item of interest in same said window.
I guess there aren’t as many assholes in New York City as there used to be.
Who says the recession is necessarily a bad thing?

Under ordinary circumstances I would have presumed the author of this missive to sport a bat or two in his belfry. But thanks to the MTA’s sterling idea to suspend both G and 7 train service this weekend my journey to and from Manhattan this evening was anything but ordinary. I’ll leave it your imagination, dear readers, to figure out who your truly thinks has a screw loose.

While I do not condone criminal activity I have to confess the trucker bomb is a very nice coup de grace. A final “fuck you” to “the man”, if you know what I mean.

If Mike of 29 Montrose Avenue is reading this someone would very much like to be compensated. In closing I would feel remiss if I didn’t point out that although this building has yet to be completed, it is already richly appointed with iron oxide.
Nice.

New York Shitty Day Ender: Scales Revisited
It was touch and go for a day or two but today I finally caught up with the brains behind the happenings at 199 Green Street: Kacy. She’s an incredibly nice lady and although her shop is still very much a work in progress (right now she is featuring cowls but plans to sell more apparel, such as shirts, in the near future), she plans to host a knitting workshop (all ages are welcome) Sunday, February 28, starting at 7:00 p.m. Check it out— or swing by and welcome her to the neighborhood!
