Crosstown Local Photos Du Jour: C.S.I.
It would appear that Santa and his little helpers have paid an early visit to the India Street entrance of the Church Avenue bound G train! I wonder what killed this little fella? If I had to hazard a guess I’d say it was the MTA’s proposed service cuts.

P.S.: Special thanks go out to Rowan for tipping me off to this splendid bit of holiday cheer!

Quicklink: 100 Abandoned Houses
Today I imagine a fair number of you are busy readying yourselves for the trek home for the holidays. For those unfortunates who are chained to desk today I offer for your pre-Yuletide entertainment this nifty find which was brought to my attention by the proprietress of Mousey Brown Salon: 100 Abandoned Houses. This site features exactly what the title indicates: one hundred images of abandoned houses. A number of them are quite lovely, albeit in a poignant kind of way. Check it out!

New York Shitty Day Starter: Tired
It would appear that the holiday hustle is catching up with Hayes (of Williamsburg’s very own Spoonbill & Sugartown Booksellers). Nonetheless he is making valiant attempt to stay awake lest someone gets a case of sticky fingers paws or decides to offer him the odd a head rub. It’s a tough job being a shop cat!

Gratuitious Food Porn: Got Babka?
Remember the babkaporn I featured a little over a week ago? If not, the following should jog your memory.
Today as I walked by Jubilatka Bakery I succumbed to temptation and picked up one of these bad boys for Christmas dinner. It set me back $18.00 dollars, but what the hell? We only live once.
Luca, our household capo, was nonplussed with my newly-acquired chocolate gingerbread creation. Mind you Luca also grunts, snorts, farts and licks his ass on occasion. While a loving companion, a gourmand Luca is most decidedly not. I, on the other hand, can’t wait to give this a try. Yum!

Greenpoint Photos Du Jour: Shovelin’
I have no idea who this child’s parents are— but whoever they are, they are very, very lucky. I have never in all my years seen someone have so much fun shoveling snow. Of course, part of this raspscallion’s mirth might be due to the fact he was beaning passersby with loads of the stuff. He hit the Mister not just once, but twice. I like this kid.

Tis The Season: From The New York Shitty Photo Pool
One of the best streets to stroll this holiday season is without argument Oak Street. At night this otherwise modest street is nothing short of being Las Vegasesque with all manner and variety of electrical Christmas cheer. Such as the above examples which come courtesy of the camera of algul siento. Great captures!
