From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part III: St. Stan’s To Be Renovated?

This item comes from a tipster who would like to remain anonymous. He/she writes:

August 20, 2010
“The church has been an eyesore for many years, and it looks like they finally raised enough money to spruce it up a little.” says Greenpoint resident, Marek Borkowski.
Local sources are claiming that the St. Stanislaus Kostka cathedral in Greenpoint will undergo significant renovations to its exterior beginning in early November, 2010. The renovations are meant to bring the current facade more in line with neighborhood aesthetic standards, as well as serve to hopefully attract a younger crop of parishioners.
The St. Stanislaus Kostka cathedral, erected in 1896, is also rumored to be rebranded as “The Stan.”
What can we expect, you ask? Well, if the renderings my intrepid tipster has gotten his (her?) hands on are any indication, we are in for something very special. Without further ado, here they are!

I rarely repost press releases verbatim but given the subject matter of this one (which comes from our very own State Assemblyman, Joe Lentol) well, let’s just say it will be of great interest to a great many north Brooklynites.
You can shoot David Paterson an email encouraging him to make this bill a law by clicking here.

From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part II: Calexico Coming To Greenpoint?
This item (which I have screencapped) comes from by buddy Caryn Rose. While the folks at Calexico may not be aware of it, the fact is a great many Greenpointers, myself included, have been aware of their designs to open up shop in the Garden Spot for months! They will be taking over La Brique’s former space at 645 Manhattan Avenue!

Help Wanted: Foster Mom (Or Dad)

This little one (which the folks at Dog Habitat have named “Socks”) was recently found in a backyard in Greenpoint. He is three weeks old and I have been told was in pretty rough shape. Thanks to our very own Greenpoint vet and the folks of Dog Habitat he is doing much better— but still needs the help of a very special person. May be you? Jay writes:
Heather,
Do you know any body who could help care for a 3 week-old kitten? we have formula and medication from his visit to the vet. we just need an extra pair of hands to help feed the little guy… we can take care of him tonight and tomorrow if there’s someone who can switch off for the weekend.
It goes without saying that someone who has experience with neo-natal cats is preferred. If you have what it takes please contact the folks at Dog Habitat via email at: rescue (at) doghabitat (dot) org. They can also be reached via telephone at (347) 689 – 4000.
Thanks!

I thought I was going to end today’s postage with a woman giving not-so-thinly veiled ministrations to a bottle of wine. What can I say? My mind has decided to join my mouth in the gutter of late. Personally I blame the weather. Anyhoo, when I checked out my photo pool and found this item from algul siento my inner 14 year old squealed with delight. Something this special (and strangely sexual) simply could not wait until tomorrow!
…I hope you die riding on my parts.
