Those of you who have not done so already should check out the lovely (and by all appearances, completed) mural at 969 Manhattan Avenue (on India Street). It’s a nice pick-me-up on this dreary day!

And Your Dog nya

There’s some rather interesting material to be found on the fence gracing one of yours truly’s favorite derelict construction sites (formerly known as “Poo Corner”)…

Special thanks/props go out to a very nice lady named Jennifer for giving yours truly a(n accidental) reminder by bringing this to my attention.

Into ongoing traffic

Moondog

idiot running a red light

Fact learned yesterday evening while crossing Manhattan Avenue: apparently wearing some hybrid of a Mongolian and Viking helmet absolves you of obeying traffic laws. I realize the photographs are not great. I can assure there is a reason for this:

  • I was crossing the street in accordance with the traffic signal.
  • The above woman (who clearly had no intention of stopping) narrowly avoided hitting yours truly.
  • Instead, she veered into oncoming traffic on India Street where she almost hit a motorist (who was following the traffic laws and actually got out of her way).

This is how you become a statistic folks…

*For those of you who are not in the know as to who this fellow is, this should clear things up.

Not sure if you came across this divine structure previously, but I thought you should know about it.

Enjoy.

Nice. I for one am delighted the East River Ferry is back in service. No doubt a tourist or two has disembarked here to meet this, our proud ambassador. Welcome to Greenpoint!

GENIUS!

Tamales and horchata NYS

One of our local entrepreneurs has seized upon the shutdown of the Crosstown Local (and the confusion which has undoubtedly ensued) to stake out a spot that is undoubtedly going to get plenty of foot traffic today: the entrance at India Street! I give this lady’s business acumen two enthusiastic New York Shitty thumbs up. Well done!

NOTE: this lady has been selling her foodstuffs here for some time. I would take this as evidence that they are probably quite good. I write “probably” because her tamales are made in the traditional manner. This means using lard (I asked). Being vegetarian myself this means “no go”. However, you meat eaters out there may want to give ’em a whirl.

SOFT CUSHIONS

Those of you who are following such things (and you know who you are) should be advised there is a bounty of feral furniture out there simply waiting for a new home— maybe yours? NOTE/CAVEAT: Supply is seemingly endless and yours truly assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any “value-added” these items may harbor.

Spotted On India Street: Wanted

It is shaping up to be a lively day in the Garden Spot. Anyone know if this is for real or some attempt at viral advertising? In any case here it is. Consider yourselves warned…

New York Shitty Photos/Video Du Jour: Wish You Were Here

Today yours truly decided to take a stroll along the waterfront and see what’s shaking (in addition to the pier).

Unlike my previous visit, the pier was open to the public.

Whether or not it is supposed to be is anyone’s guess.

I’ll leave you, gentle readers, to draw your own conclusions.

I quickly ascertained I was not alone.

Evidence of recent merry-making was spotted.

Welcome to Greenpoint.

For shits and giggles I decided to hang around until the next ferry came by. Sure, we Greenpointers do not have (direct) access to this amenity— but we can wave at it!

For those of you who are wondering Greenpoint has been without ferry service since February 13, 2014. If there were, say, a few luxury residential towers here— more specifically, residents inhabiting said towers who(se wallets) will get the ear of their elected officials— do you honestly think this situation would have been allowed to persist as it has? Really? But of course we do not have luxury towers much less luxury tower residents— at least yet— so we, the hoi polloi, will just have to wait. And wait…
