New York Shitty Feral Furniture Watch: North 10 Street Al Fresco Living Suite, Revisited

Another sunny (if brisk) day, in North Brooklyn, another walk. And another dispatch as to how the North 10th Street “rustic” living room suite is faring. As you can see the sectional to the right has been moved.

It has also been tagged.

For those of you who are keeping count, this arrangement has been in effect for at least 24 days. The current record holder for feral furniture goes to this specimen on Meserole Street: 53 days.

P.S.: While I am on the subject of matters Department of Sanitation and Department of Transportation, what’s up with this?

Anyone?

New York Shitty Street Seating Du Jour: Special Post-Sandy Edition

As the proliferation of posts probably indicate, today yours truly finally ventured further afield to get a sense of how post-Sandy north Brooklyn was faring. I encountered a number of fallen trees, construction fences and such— but I saw a number of wonderful (and dare I say inspirational) things as well.

Such is the case with this al fresco living room suite with decorative boulder. It exudes a certain Paleolithic (or Post-apocalyptic— take your pick) design sensibility yours truly finds curiously endearing. What’s more, it not only took the worst Mother Nature can dole out but it appears to be relatively unscathed from the experience. I swear I heard the chaise lounge to the left chuckling:

That’s all you had in you bitch? Get the fuck outta of here!

And “outta here” Sandy is. That’s good ol’ New York City attitude for you.

In closing (and to bastardize the inscription on the James Farely Post Office):

Neither snow nor rain nor hurricane nor gloom of night stays north Brooklyn’s feral furniture from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
