The Word On The Street: North 1 Street

What makes this specimen truly exquisite in my humble opinion is it’s location. It is just a hop-skip turntable’s toss from 66 North 1 Street: a nondo which will live in infamy.

Happy Valentine’s Day From New York Shitty!
Filed under: 11211, 11222, East Williamsburg, East Williamsburg Brooklyn, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
This Valentine’s Day greeting hails from Grandma Rose’s (which serves pretty tasty fare, I will add) on Graham Avenue. Those of you who will be celebrating the day single, do not despair. Let the following dialogue from Chez Shitty (regarding the video I am about to share with you) provide some semblance of solace.
Me (with more than a hint of sarcasm): Love means never having to say you’re sorry.
The Mister: It means having to say you’re sorry for the rest of your life.
Without further ado here it is: one half of a conversation to which anyone who has ever been in a relationship— be it functional or otherwise— can relate. Enjoy!
Have a happy and safe Valentine’s Day, New York Shittites! May this day be filled with flowers, candy, romance or whatever. Speaking for Chez Shitty, yours truly has received a very special present from the Mister. Here’s how we broke the good news to the cantankerous and somewhat legendary proprietor of T & N Wine and Liquor: Chris.
Preface: The Mister decided upon exiting the Crosstown Local that he fancied a little Hennessy after his meal.* To this end we headed to T & N without delay.
Chris: Look at this attractive couple!
Me: You’re funny.
Chris: What are you doing for Valentine’s Day?
Me (to the Mister): Tell the nice man what you’re giving me for Valentine’s Day.
The Mister: I’m going out of town.
This was met with much amusement by our fellow liquor store patrons. Fret not, dear readers: the inhabitants of Chez Shitty, two legged and otherwise, will be eagerly awaiting— locks unchanged— the Mister’s return!

From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part II: Trouble At The Dzien Dobry Drinking Forest?
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Criminal Activity, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
The tipster who forwarded me the above photographs gives a first-hand account of what went down:
Midweek mayhem cut into McCarren Park’s Dzien Dobry Drinking Forest’s happy hour. NYPD and NYFD EMTs responded to an incident involving the co- treasurers of the Dzien Dobry Drinking League (DDDL), which resulted in a bloody nose and an escort out of the park of several of the group’s core members. The meeting resumed immediately after emergency response left the scene. This brief interruption in the group’s daily 20 hour al fresco brainstorming sessions will not be recorded in the minutes of their monthly report.

Williamsburg Photo du Jour: Location, Location, Location!
Regardless of one’s stance on the “war on drugs” one really has to admire “Tim’s” market savvy product placement: an automatic teller machine located on North 7 Street at Bedford Avenue. Genius!

Does anyone reading this have a definitive answer as to whom the above head belongs? The Mister and I keep going back and forth between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton.

Adoptable Cutie Cavalcade!
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Crazy Cat Lady, East Williamsburg, East Williamsburg Brooklyn, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
Last week was quite a lively one for yours truly— and not exactly in a good way. For this reason I decided to get a little kitten therapy at North Brooklyn Cats’s adoption event at Muddy Paws. Now only did I get my “cute fix”, but I also shot footage of some kittens who would very much like a home. Maybe yours? Without further ado here they are!
The Celestial Kittens
This trio was found in a plastic bag near the Cloisters and turned over to Animal Care and Control. My friend (and cat mom extraordinaire), Lisa, sprung them loose and is nursing them back to health. Although it will be some time before Sky, Heaven and Angel will be old enough for adoption, I cannot resist sharing the above footage. WARNING/CAVEAT: be prepared for heart-wrenching cuteness!
Bubbles & Friends
I did not get the names of all these little ones but above chap is named “Bubbles”. He appears to be the most subdued of the lot— as you will soon see. Enjoy!
North Brooklyn Cats has a number of other cats and kittens eagerly awaiting homes. You can see a few of them by checking out their page on Adopt-a-Pet’s web site. You can view more pictures of the Celestial kittens (including more live footage) by clicking here. In closing, anyone interested in giving any of these fetching felines a home can contact (and “like”) North Brooklyn Cats via their Facebook page which can be found here.
