This novel approach to graffiti abatement hails from 47th Avenue. The Mister could not ascertain the redacted words in the lattermost item. This is when being an aficionado of Motorhead (which I most assuredly am) comes in handy!

The Word On The Street, Part III: Land Grab

Give me your land 600

Manhattan 600

I imagine this one will require some explanation so here it is. There is a mural of sorts on Java Street between West Street and the waterfront. Basically (and this is keeping it very simple) it is a hodge podge of the five boroughs in an interesting, if slightly jarring, array of colors. That black smudge next to the smiling lady’s face is the northernmost tip of Manhattan. Do the math— or simply click here instead. If there’s one thing yours truly really loves it is a wiseass. Well done, anonymous hooligan!

It would appear the construction fence fail at 958 Manhattan Avenue (which, inasmuch as I can ascertain, has been in effect since at least March 17th) has come to the attention of Paul Richard. If/when the Department of Buildings will take action remains to be seen.

Greenpoint Photos Du Jour: Happy Easter From Manhattan Avenue!

Another Sunday, another batch of donations find their way to our local Salvation Army. Amusingly enough, this Sunday (which of course is Easter) this furry fella has found his (?) way onto their proverbial doorstep. Unlike a number of appliances (which he called his companions), no one has seen fit to take him home— at least not yet. As for the appliances: they were commandeered by a few of our local capitalists and are presently for sale on the sidewalk at Huron Street and Manhattan Avenue. I am not kidding.

The Word On The Street: PROGRE$$

Many of you are probably not aware of this but after a business calls it quits it is required by law to paint over its sign. Such is this fine city of ours: if you can imagine it, there’s probably a law on the books pertaining to it. As you can see, gentle readers, some artistic license has been taken here by yours truly. Yes, this is my handiwork. I volunteered to do this for Steve Goldscholle. He is a friend of mine. You are probably thinking this sullen utterance of revolt garnered a great deal of attention and curiosity (being as it is located on Manhattan Avenue and all). It most certainly did. Without argument the most amusing was an agent from the real estate office across the street (which has a listing for this building, the asking price is $3,000,000) running over and imploring Steve to make me stop. He replied that he was simply obeying the law.

This one’s for you, Steve.

The Word On The Street, Part II: Thames Street

This novel approach to the combating the littering problem is downright ingenious. I’d even go so far as to say given the location (“East Williamsburg”) it might actually work. Clean sidewalks = free drugs for the masses!

New York Shitty Photo Du Jour: Eyes On The Street

Oscar_the_Grouch_2It would appear that someone found the faux grass fencing gracing “Williamsburg Park” to resemble a beloved Sesame Street character. Well played, anonymous hooligan!
