Quicklink: The Truth About Pistilli Riverview East
(Or: keep your expectations low & you’ll always be satisfied)
This site was brought to my attention via the New York Shitty inbox and courtesy of someone who calls himself (or herself) “Pistilli’s Least Favorite Tenant”. What can you expect from TTAPRE, you ask? Well, the “About” page pretty much says it all:
I moved into Pistilli Riverview East in Astoria on October 20, 2009. My apartment began leaking four days later on October 24, 2009. My apartment still leaks to this day. My landlord, Parkview Building Associates, LLC. is operated by Pistilli Realty. The way they manage this building is despicable and unacceptable. I’m not griping about cheap appliances or cabinetry. Those things are what they are and I willingly and knowingly entered into my lease having seen the cheap appliances and cabinetry. I did not knowingly and willingly enter into my lease to live in an apartment that constantly and persistently leaks and is covered in toxic black mold.
At a mere two posts long this blog sports moldering and disintegrating ceilings (as seen at left), some kind brown ooze gracing the window sills of the laundry room and allegations that the doorman is refusing admittance to census workers. One can only imagine what will happen next. Check it out!

As the delay in today’s postage probably indicates today I decided to table the blog a bit and go for a walk. I made a number of amazing discoveries (such as learning the mattress at North 4 and Berry Street has inhabitants). You will be delighted to know, dear readers, I plan to share each and every one of them with you. This post is dedicated to North 4 Street— or more specifically why it smells so damned bad. This mystery didn’t take me long to unravel. In fact, you could go so far to say all I had to do was follow my nose!
It would appear that the derelict property on the south side of the street has been pressed into service as a public lavatory.
If the amount of effluvia I found is any indication, it appears to be very popular.
I’m not too sure which end this came out of— but I bet whoever discharged this puddle of joy feels a lot better!
Welcome to Skidmark Row in the heart of the “new” Williamsburg!

Williamsburg Photo Du Jour: A North 4 Street PSA
I encountered this charming missive as I was on my daily constitutional today. I even made it a point to visit this very intersection because this mattress has taken up residence there for quite some time. Three (or was it four— I lose track) weeks ago it was nestled snugly in a garage door around the corner on Berry Street. Last week it had migrated around the corner to North 4 Street. And this week, as you can see, someone has seen fit to admonish everyone that this piece of street furniture comes with “benefits”.

Reader Contribution Du Jour: Lost In Soho
Over the years I have posted a great many fliers soliciting the return of one thing or another. Most of them featured pets such as cats or dogs. One even offered a $100 reward for a pigeon. Now, thanks to a man named Dave, we can add a rubber ducky to the list. Nice.
