Salah

This photograph was taken by Will Star and features none other than the co-proprietor of Greenpoint Grocery, Saleh. I have it on excellent intelligence he is in the process of selling his establishment so be sure to stop by and say “Hi” while you can!

New York Shitty Day Ender: Live From Newtown Creek

Shit Tits and Scrap Metal

While prognosticated, the rapture did not happen today. Or if it did I was left behind and am ready, willing and able to process copious amounts of photographs and video footage from my Newtown Creek experience. Before we proceed here are some interesting facts/observations:

  • Courtesy of a nearby radio station the Kosciuszko Bridge is “live”. In other words when men perform maintenance on it they must be “grounded”.
  • The sour mash from breweries which formerly dotted the creek were fed to cows and their milk (which was reputed to taste ratherĀ  awful) was then sold to orphanages at deep discounts. For this reason the product was called “orphan’s milk”.
  • The “product” from our local waste treatment plant is dried into cakes (their words, not mine) and sold on the open market as fertilizer.
  • After a week of heavy rainfall Newtown Creek is awash in Coney Island whitefish.

Adoptable Cuties: Kitten Cavalcade At Dog Habitat!

Earlier this week I was contacted by Jay Lombard of Dog Habitat. He told me they had a few new residents of the feline persuasion. Needless to say I had to make the acquaintance of these guys (and gals) STAT. Yesterday this came to pass. Without further ado here they are!

First up, a trio of kittens found in Queens:

And how can we forget Mangus? The rather friendly (and furry) chap whose image graces the beginning of this post!

You can (and should) see more photos of these adoptable cuties and a few of their canine pals at Dog Habitat’s web site. Otherwise anyone interested in meeting these little ones and giving them the loving home they deserve should contact the folks at Dog Habitat at: rescue (at) doghabitat (dot) org or (347) 203 – 3934.

Thanks!

In closing, I feel compelled to write that tomorrow, May 22nd, Glasslands Gallery will be hosting an benefit for Dog Habitat. You can get more details (and purchase tickets) by clicking here.

No babies & "Fuck Texas"

It would appear a dumpster right here in the Garden Spot (as captured by diana gee) has gotten “the treatment”.
