An Art Space Coming To Manhattan Avenue?

Many of you probably know that Head Hoods has taken residence in this building (which is located at the corner of Bayard Street). What you might not know is the space next door is slated to become a working artist’s space replete with shows and all that fun stuff. Per the very nice gentleman* who operates this space, Kent, this is going to happen. Soon. He told me to watch for the banner he is going to place next to the front door. I mostly assuredly will!

*He even asked if I would care to take home the above photograph of the birds as he “didn’t like it very much” and planned to rotate images anyway. Since I had several hours of walking ahead of me I declined. It was a very gracious offer nonetheless!

Found In Williamsburg: WTF?
This (which hails from Metropolitan Avenue) is one of the more revolting items I have encountered recently.
What is was this?

UPDATE, May 22, 2010: Apparently what happens in Brooklyn does not stay in Brooklyn. My find has found its way into the hands of NBCLA. As in Los Angeles, California. Uncredited.

Huron Street Kittens Update: Jerzy!
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Crazy Cat Lady, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
A number of people have asked me about the kittens that were found dumped next to a bunch of garbage cans last month by a very good Samaritan named Sarita. There were initially four, two being one week old and the other two being approximately four weeks old. The two younger ones regrettably— but not surprisingly— died. This left a brother and sister which we named Anna and Jerzy. In regards to them I have some good news and some bad news: Anna has died. Lisa has no idea what happened. She simply woke up one morning and Anna was gone. If there is any consolation about this sad passing of events it is:
- At least Anna spent what little time she had being loved and cared for as instead simply dying on the street like so many stray/abandoned kittens do.
- Her brother Jerzy is happy and healthy. He has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV!
Here’s Jerzy the day he was found: April 13, 2010.
And here he is after a very exhausting “play session” at Muddy Paws yesterday!
Lisacat writes: …He is so damned cute right now. Super feisty, eating great, eyes cleared up, good poops, etc. I’ll test him for felv/fiv before Sunday, I think he’s going to be amazing!
But don’t take her word for it. Here is Jerzy having a grand old time!
In closing I would like to thank everyone once again for their generous donations towards Jerzy’s medical care. It took several weeks of antibiotics and TLC but as you can see it was money well spent. I agree with Lisa: he is going to be a very remarkable guy!
