From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part II: Monkey Is Back

A friend and fellow cat lady named Lisa writes:

Meant to send you this sooner but I keep getting distracted. I’ve been told it’s a condition called “kittenhead” that afflicts people who care for bottle babies this time of year! Anyway, this really great couple stopped by our adoption event at Muddy Paws and brought the flyer attached. The cat looked familiar and the address was spot on. I pulled up my old flickr set and sure enough, IT’S MONKEY!

Monkey is NOT A STRAY!

You were able to draw attention to his living situation last time and probably were the reason his people responded in the flickr comments last time, maybe we can do the same this time. Their flickr accounts are stagnant and maybe they moved leaving Monkey behind? I’ll get some updated photos of the “Bloomblight” on my way to the new Indian restaurant tonight and send them, but the plywood with Monkey’s declaration is long gone as are the Enchanted Gardens as you know too well.

You can view a wonderful video of Monkey in “action” by clicking here. Otherwise, if anyone reading this knows to whom this winsome fellow belongs— or wants to provide him the loving permanent home he so richly deserves— please contact Kristen! Thanks— and spread the word!

Williamsburg Photo Du Jour: Laundry Day

leonardstreet

I was asked recently by a curious citizen exactly what is slated to grace this rather sizable lot (which is located at Leonard Street and Meeker Avenue). As it would happen I know because I attend the Community Board Land Use Committee (ULURP) in which this is discussed. Prepare yourselves: it’s good news!

There will be two residential apartment buildings on this property: one will be market rate, the other affordable housing. The reason this was discussed at a “ULURP” meeting is the developer wanted permission to add residential units to the previous in exchange for building the latter. I saw the plans, materials to be used, etc., and I have to say what they have in mind is mighty nice. This is really saying something given Karl Fischer is the architect. I was especially pleased to learn the garden area they plan to build-out will be accessible to/shared by both buildings!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Coming At You From Castle Hill, Bx…

A fellow named Matt writes (in an email entitled “Thought this would make you proud”):

Spotted out in Castle Hill in the Bronx!

For those of you who are wondering what is going on here, I’ll explain. Some upstanding (and I suspect upset) member of this community has seen fit to print out a post I authored years ago outlining the Canine Waste Law. As you can see he (she?) has not only affixed this missive to what I presume to be a telephone pole, but he has gone to the added trouble of “weather proofing” it. I am particularly moved by the latter— and yes, this makes me quite proud! Thanks for passing this along, Matt. It made my day!
