Boobification Photo du Jour: Something For The Kids

For reasons that probably do not need to be explained, today was (and still is) a red letter day for yours truly. Those of you who have congratulated me via comments and email, I want to take a moment here and now to tender my kindest regards and gratitude. You see, I did not sit on my laurels checking email and moderating comments today. I got right back to business.

I have been wanting to do this for months. Today, at 3:30 p.m. (and much to the amusement of the youths dismissed after a busy day at the Automotive High School) I finally made it happen. This one’s for you, kids. If you can believe it, you can achieve it!

P.S.: While I’m titularly on the subject of eastern Europe, get a load of this sexy beast I encountered on North 8 Street!

When I saw the incoming link for this on the back end of my blog, I clicked it. Then I proceeded to stare at it in disbelief. Once I figured out this was, in fact, for real I proceeded to rock out to Metallica until the wee hours of the morning. Much to the Mister’s dismay and extreme annoyance.

I suppose such an honor deserves a speech. I’ll spare you that, dear readers. But I want to thank each and every one of you for reading New York Shitty, giving me tips, feedback and, on occasion, much-needed encouragement. The Village Voice‘s props belong to you too!

Now if you don’t mind I’m off to the brand-spanking new Taco Bell on McGuinness Boulevard to get an order of celebratory nachos. It’s a red letter day in Greenpoint!

Crosstown Local Photo du Jour: Rebuttal

Remember the post I wrote last week grousing about Bloomberg inundating the G train with advertisements designed to ingratiate himself to the Latino community? Well, he got a response. En Espanol. At the Greenpoint Avenue stop of the Crosstown Local.

Translation per SpanishDict.com:

I will not vote for that bastard* Bloomberg.

*I was always under the impression the word “maricon” meant something else. While I do not condone the homophobic message that comes with using such a word, you know what they say:

It’s the thought that counts.

Garden Spot Photo du Jour: A Very Greenpoint Stroller Mom

As you can probably ascertain by today’s delayed postage, I decided to table the blog for awhile and go for a walk. The way I see it, winter will be upon us soon enough so I should enjoy every last drop of sunshine and shirtsleeve weather while I can. It was on Green Street that I encountered a threesome who shares my sentiment—  even they do not have to wear shirtsleeves (or pants, for that matter).

The occupants of this double-decker “stroller” for the fashionable furry set are (from top to bottom): King Billy, Milo (to the right) and Chuck Norris (to the left). Yes, you just read me correctly: somewhere in our fair burgh there is a cat named Chuck Norris— and he likes (or at least doesn’t seem to mind) touring our streets in a stroller.

In the course of our conversation his “person” told me that at some point she plans to adopt a brother for Chuck and his buddy Milo. His name will be Clint Eastwood. I wonder if they make triple-deckers?

viridian

It has been awhile since I have written about my favorite nondo: the Viridian. This is because since “Bird Gate” (in August) there has not been anything truly noteworthy to pass along. That is, until today.

Yes sir. Inasmuch as the Garden Spot of the Universe seems to be transforming into dime store version of her more famous sister down south, some things never change.

From The New York Shitty Inbox: A Gate On Java Street?

gate

Mike (who sent me the above photograph) writes:

I was walking down by West and Java today and noticed someone is putting up a metal gate leading down to the water. Is this the same spot where the city tore down the gate (to ensure our access to the “water front”) over the summer if I’m not mistaken?

Intrigued, I moseyed down to Java Street this afternoon to see what’s up. Contrary to what Mike thought, this fence (which as some of you may recall, was issued an order by the Department of Transportation to be removed because it ostensibly blocked waterfront access. I think this is a bit of an exaggeration, but illegal is illegal…) was not going up: it was coming down.

To close on West Street related news I am pleased to announce the crumbling construction fences I wrote about in this post have been repaired.

It should also be noted the owner of the above property (174 West Street, which is located between Green and Huron Street) has been issued a summons for (and I quote) “failure to maintain adequate housekeeping”. How do I know this, you ask? Let’s just say the word is on the street.

I’ll leave it to your respective powers of deduction, dear readers, to figure out what the brown smudge is on this document.
