Per witnesses the automobile on the left failed to stop at the stop sign on Green Street. Having lived on Green Street for no less than ten years I can attest that I have seen plenty of “accidents” such as this. We need either a stop light or some enforcement on this intersection. Seriously.

The Word On The Street, Part II: Special DIY Edition

I am going to go out on a limb here and prognosticate that these missives are not D.O.T./city issue. Nonetheless, one does have to admire the craftsmanship. The party/parties responsible for these missive managed to actually drill these into said light post. I cannot imagine this was an easy task. That’s good ol’ Garden Spot ingenuity for you!

LAST GASP: On The Subject Of Helicopters

As some of you recall— and bore witness— there has been a lot of helicopter activity in the Garden Spot this week. While this has become pretty much standard operating procedure on July 4th nowadays, after hearing buzz about a police officer being shot, I wanted to know what gives. To this end I sent an email to head of the 94th Precinct, Deputy Inspector Hurson. Follows is his reply:
There was a Police Officer shot in Manhattan that night (July 5th — Ed. Note), however I think people noticed the helicopter I called in to assist us in dispersing a roof top party at 110 Green Street that had turned unruly. People
started dropping fireworks down on pedestrians and when my Officer arrived started throwing beer bottles at them from the seventh floor roof.

Throwing fireworks at pedestrians? Volleying beer bottles at police officers? This is ridiculous folks. Really.

(OR: “Girls” wants girls— and the rest of you to move your cars)

The New York Observer writes:

From an official Girls casting notice posted to, we now know what “hipster” typecasting looks like:

Seeking—Hipster Types: male and female, 18-30s, all ethnicities, all types, specifically seeking people with tattoos, piercings, colored hair, and unique looks. Young Adult (ages 18-29), Thirties (ages 30-39). Caucasian/White, African-American/Black, Latin/Hispanic/South American, Asian, Native American (!!! — Ed. Note), European, Middle Eastern, Indian/South Asian, Other.

Truth be told, I really hate going after low-hanging fruit like such as this— but “Europeans”?!? I just about shot Zywiec out of my nose reading that corker. Perhaps “Girls” will spot a few when they film in “Little Poland” tomorrow? That’s right, Greenpointers. Tomorrow. May 18th, 2012.

The areas impacted are:

  1. Manhattan Avenue between Java and Green Street and
  2. India Street between Manhattan Avenue and Franklin Street.

The tow trucks show up at 2:00 p.m. Why not leave a curricula vitae and a headshot on your dashboard, Garden Spotters?
